Ontario-based guide Steve May, with the help of fellow guide Ken Collins, developed this fly along the banks of Canada's Grand River with trophy smallies in mind. Designed to bounce along the bottoms of streams where crayfish live, May's Full-Motion Crayfish is a true smallmouth slayer.

Great Pattern for River Smallies - 8/28/2013
    By:

I generally use woolly buggers and clouser minnows for smallmouth bass but lately they have not seemed effective for me. I've had this fly for a while and had never used it. Figured, I might as well as try it. Wow, the smallies crushed these flies hard. For a second I thought I might have had a mini-steelhead on. Highly recommended.

    Been searching - 8/26/2013

I bought this fly somewhere along the way and I have tried to replicate it with little success. I used it 3 different days on the Shenandoah river in W.V. and caught about 4 dozen small mouths until it started to fall apart, which is amazing. I have used cray fish patterns similar, but this one produced the best and lasted the longest.

nice fly, EXCEPT eye had cement in it - 5/30/2013
    By: from NJ USA

I'd buy again, but considering the premium price, I was surprised this had to have its eye cleaned. It was hard stuff, needed a large sharp safety pin tip to chip through it. From now on, I'll be checking all my orvis flies before heading to the water.

Without a doubt one of the best smallmouth patterns there is.. Paired with a vertical streamer presentation, it really can't be beat.. Hats off to Steve and Ken....
