The Story

Enlist the services of Orvis-endorsed guide Capt. Will Paul on your North Carolina fly-fishing trip. Eastern North Carolina is home to hundreds of miles of coastal rivers that provide a unique and remote fishing experience for a number of migratory and resident species. Capt. Will is an eastern North Carolina native and has spent years navigating the hundreds of miles of river in the region in search of the best fishing. From our well-known spring runs of striped bass and American shad to our resident largemouth bass, this region provides angling opportunities for folks of all skill levels. Come experience expert instruction and world-class fishing in a truly unique area of the world with Capt. Will.

We operate in power boats from 16' to 20' to access the most productive water in the region. Premium gear is provided for all our trips as well as a large selection of hand-tied flies specific to our fisheries. All trips include local craft beers and an unforgettable lunch prepared by the guide.

We operate on all of North Carolina's coastal river systems but primarily target fish on the upper Tar River and the Roanoke River National Wildlife Refuge. These are wild and scenic locations with very little human development. Large cypress trees line the banks and a variety of wildlife, from black bears to bald eagles, can be seen regularly.

Rates vary from $400–$650 depending on the trip location and duration. More information can be found on our website: https://www.tarriverco.com/book-online
