The Story

Orvis-endorsed Falcon's Ledge's Pleasant Valley Hunting Grounds in Utah is one of the oldest and largest hunting grounds in the West. This 3,000-acre preserve is managed exclusively for upland birds. Pleasant Valley provides great breeding and feeding habitat for pheasants and chukar, and ensures both quantity and quality of birds on the preserve.

Experience the rush of strong, hard-flying pheasants and chukar bursting into flight. These are birds that challenge even the most experienced shooter. The thrill of cackling, hard-flushing roosters clearing the cover tops will be remembered long after the hunt. You will follow superb pointing or flushing dogs handled by experienced and knowledgeable guides. Many of our guides have guided for over 15 years and love to guide and teach bird hunting.

With the snow-capped Uinta Mountains as a backdrop to the north, and a panoramic one-hundred-mile view from our clubhouse, guests enjoy Utah pheasant hunting in one of the most spectacular settings known to man! Come pay us a visit and you'll quickly realize why we are the premier bird hunting preserve in the West.

Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Sample of Typical Itinerary:

Each day hunting starts early with a hearty breakfast at the lodge. On the first day of your hunt you may choose to spend some time on “the bird walk” a seven station clay range designed to simulate shooting scenarios encountered in upland bird hunting, to sharpen and refresh your shooting skills. The rest of that day and all other days are spent hunting on the Hunting Grounds at Pleasant Valley. With an expert guide and world class gun dogs you are sure to get in a lot of great shooting.

Hunts at Falcon’s Ledge are conducted in the traditional western walk-up style over pointing or flushing dogs. Your guide and dogs work as a team to find birds for you. Is there is anything as wonderful as walking in autumn fields, watching fine gun dogs coursing before you, sniffing each scent as they race ahead. Our dogs love to hunt and want nothing more than to find birds. Guests typically hunt two to four hunters with one guide and a team of dogs. We can tailor the level of exertion required and terrain on your hunt to match your physical ability.

At the end of each day’s hunt, your birds are processed and packaged for you to take home. Lunch is served each day in the field or at the Pleasant Valley Hunting Grounds lodge, a beautiful new facility serving lunch everyday.

Guests may choose to add fly fishing options - Cast & Blast during the fall and late spring hunting season. Weather for hunting and fishing is always perfect in the fall and can make a really great trip.
