Great Pattern
Fish Love it. I like to drop a midge or soft hackle from it but they take the Pupa just as often.

Don’t fish without it
Never fish without it. I drop it off an indicator fly and have tremendous results with it. Bead Head Pheasant Tail works well also.

Simple and deadly!
Simple fly holds up fish after fish without falling apart. Like using candy for hungry trout!

Caddis Candy
Could not get the fish to stop attacking this one last year. A older tried and true pattern.

Simple
Great simple imitation. Trout gravitated toward this pattern over more intricate imitations when fished on a multiple dropper rig. Like candy.

Go-To Caddis Fly Pattern
There are certainly more elaborate caddis patterns. However, none are more effective in my experience than the Orvis bead head caddis pupa. Consistently produces trout in both olive and cream, and in all three sizes. Great on pan fish too. I have recently begun tying this pattern using these as a guide.

very effective fly
I reside in Colorado I do a lot of fly fishing in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming even have Ventured to Northern California a couple of times the Beadhead Caddis Pupau is my favorite fly of choice. usually trail that behind a red San Juan Worm a real good combo, in fact this past summer fished that pattern on the Cache Le Pouder river near Fort Collins and landed 2 fish. always seems to catch fish.funny thing is only color that works for me is the Olive have tried other colors and nothing, olive goes back on and hang on.Great Fly !!!!!!!
