The Story

Following your time well-spent at Tekamah, Nebraska's Pheasant Bonanza, an Orvis-endorsed wingshooting lodge nestled among hardwood ridges overlooking the Missouri River floodplain, you will have memories that will last you a lifetime. What began in 2004 as a hunting facility for Omaha corporate groups has bloomed into a world-class, international shooting destination. When you're not out in the field with our first-class guides, and exceptional Labrador retrievers and German shorthaired pointers hunting upland birds, you could be in our amazing waterfowl blinds on the Missouri Flyway. You'll find yourself refreshed in our world class three-story, 15-room Benjamin Schoonover Lodge that was completed in 2016 to afford guests luxury accommodation with breathtaking views. You won't forget the fun you have on our 20-station sporting clay course, five-stand, trap, and skeet courses. With thousands of acres of hunting land and food plots in the scenic Loess Hills of eastern Nebraska, Pheasant Bonanza's midwest hospitality will provide you with the hunting experience you didn't even know existed. We keep hunting groups small and never mix groups. We also tailor every hunt to your experience level and encourage you to bring your own dog if you'd like. Pheasant Bonanza is just 50 miles from either Omaha or Sioux City, Iowa, and several regional airports are nearby for those who wish to fly private.

Our facilities are also perfect for accommodating corporate outings. Our lodge boasts an impressive 12-person conference room. Onsite is also our Ringnecks building, capable of seating up to 100 people for larger corporate outings/meetings. Our destination is ideal for hosting corporate team-building getaways and client appreciation events, even for non-hunters! We have so much you can do, year-round. By getting away from the usual settings and distractions, you're undoubtedly able to attain the attention of your customers/employees and get down to business. Mixing hunting, shooting, golf, gourmet dinners and drinks, etcetera, helps a little too! Are you ready to make long-lasting memories and friendships?

Our upland season begins September 1 and ends April 15. We offer a 10% non-peak season discount rates on top of all other discounts for the months of January-September. Our clay courses are year-round and we offer waterfowl, deer, and turkey hunts during Nebraska's legal seasons.

Pheasant Bonanza is conveniently located 50 miles north of Omaha and 50 miles south of Sioux City. The location is adequate for quick and easy, in and out travel. Commercial airports are only 60 minutes away while private airports reside only 15 minutes away.

We offer many different terrains to suit your abilities; from scenic hill country with CRP grasses, wooded draws, creek beds, sunflower and sorghum to the pancake-flat Missouri river bottoms, flooded with milo, corn and soybeans. The variety of terrain is part of what makes Pheasant Bonanza's wild life habitat so inviting for the different species we have to offer.

Typical Weather:

If you don't mind warm weather, come in September and you should have the whole place to yourselves and first dibs on the 3,000 acres we have to offer. Weather in September can range from mid-40sF in the morning to 80s in the afternoon. October and November offer beautiful weather with lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s. December cools down a bit and we might have measurable snowfall, but that just makes for a truly majestic hunt! If the cold doesn't bother you, we offer outstanding rates in January and February. You can also have the place almost entirely to yourselves! Lastly, like most mid-western states, March and April are usually stunning, but also unpredictable!

Pheasant Bonanza's day hunts start at $799 per group. Overnight packages vary from $1999 per person for upland and waterfowl hunt packages, depending on the number of nights and amount of birds you want to hunt. We offer packages to fit different budget needs and we tailor every hunt to meet your desires!

What is Provided:

All overnight packages are all-inclusive with the exception of ammunition/gratuity. Overnight stays can be tailored to your needs. Our packages include luxurious lodging with housekeeping service, airport pickup/drop-off, unlimited clay shooting, gourmet meals, adult beverages, pre-packaged/frozen birds with travel cooler, and of course, the hunt.

Gear Recommendations:

Weather is often unpredictable, especially the winter months. Be sure to watch the weather before your arrival and be prepared for anything. Most importantly, we recommend a broke-in, comfortable pair of boots'water-resistant is a plus. A neck gaiter is often nice on windy winter days. You will warm-up as you walk so dress in layers. It's most important to keep your feet, hands and face warm. Gloves are a must, but be sure you're able to pull the trigger well. You're more than welcome to bring your own gun, however we provide guns and ammo if you do not want to travel with your own. We require blaze orange for upland hunts. A bird bag is nice to have, but not required as our guides will carry birds throughout the fields. Waders are not needed for waterfowl hunting. Our blind is heated, but still be sure to dress appropriately. Most of this gear can be purchased in our pro shop. Bring comfortable, casual attire for lodge wear. A pair of lodge shoes or slippers is very handy well. September, October, March and April are often cool in the mornings, but very warm in the afternoons so pack appropriately. We sell most items you might need for your hunt in our onsite Pro Shop. We also encourage you to bring your own dog!

What to Bring:

What else to bring: If you want to mix and match your hunting with a game of golf, don't forget your golf clubs! We allow sporting clay shooters to bring their own golf carts and we encourage hunters to bring their own dogs! We sell most items you might need for your hunt in our onsite Pro Shop in case you forget anything.

Do you offer shooting lessons?
Trent, our club's General Manager, along with several other PB guides are certified NSCA shooting instructors and Orvis Endorsed Instructors. They are avid shooters themselves and Trent performs exhibition trick shooting shows as well.

Can I bring my own dog?
Absolutely, we love having your dog(s) come along. They may hunt with us at your own risk. We do not allow dogs in our lodge, but we do offer boarding services in our kennel.

Can I bring a non-hunting guest or my wife?
Of course, we have several activities they'd enjoy; some include a winery and a fudge factory. We love exposing new people to the experience.

Can we customize our outing if none of the package options appeal to us?
Yes, we can tailor any package to your wants/needs.

Do you offer corporate outings?
We have many businesses, large and small, from across the country that make their visit to Pheasant Bonanza an annual outing to entertain clients and employees. Take advantage of our conference rooms and 100-person meeting space!

Can I hunt without a guide?
We reserve unguided hunts for our members only. We offer several levels of membership'from personal to corporate. Some memberships offer enough discount that it would make sense to buy one to make your outing cheaper; in which case, you'd be able to hunt unguided.

Do you release birds and how often?
We have a fair amount of wild birds, but yes, we release birds similar to South Dakota's clubs. We want you to have the best experience possible. And for that reason, we have birds that mirror what you would encounter in the wild.

Do you offer shooting lessons?
Trent, our club's General Manager, along with sever other PB guides are certified NSCA shooting instructors and Orvis Endorsed Instructors. They are avid shooters themselves and Trent performs exhibition trick shooting shows as well.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
We require a 15% deposit no less than two weeks before your scheduled arrival. No matter when deposits are received, they are non-refundable, but they can be forwarded to another outing at a later time. You must have a deposit to lock-in your date; otherwise your date may be booked by another party. You may add guests at any time if there is space. We must be notified in reductions in number of guests no less than 48 hours' notice or you will be charged for the original amount of people.

What is required for out-of-state licensing?
All you need for upland game, whether resident or non-resident, is a NE Habitat Stamp and CSA Permit which may both be purchased in our Pro Shop. It is very affordable. We sell all licensing in our Pro Shop for all species of game. The only the item we're not capable of carrying is a Federal Duck Stamp which may be purchased at most sporting goods stores, post offices and sometimes stores such as Wal-Mart.

Let's face it, when you choose a destination, the second most important aspect, behind the hunting of course, is the dining. Choose from our menu and let us know what you'd like to eat for each meal prior to your arrival, or do what most of our guests do and let our chef surprise you! Either way, we promise you won't be disappointed—just don't overindulge in the appetizers before dinner. After all, you did work up a big appetite by hiking up and down the pheasant fields all day! Most of our four-course dinners are served to table. Whether you enjoy hearty, down-home cooking, wild game, fine steak dinners, or all of the above, we're confident the food will be what you leave talking about the most.

Pheasant Bonanza's Benjamin Schoonover Lodge and our staff blend elegant lodging and upscale dining with a laidback atmosphere and relationships that extend long after your stay. The lodge, completed in 2016, is fully furnished with 15 total rooms; 12 featuring two double queen beds and three featuring single king beds. Each room offers its own bathroom with shower, HDTV with DirecTV, Wi-Fi, white noise machine, house-keeping service and breathtaking views of the Loess Hills. Enjoy the free-standing fireplace which extends through all three levels of the lodge or enjoy the scenery on one of the patios. Kick back, watch the game, and relax in any of the three sitting areas. Or spend your evening having a cocktail, beer, or a glass of our very own Rooster's wine in the basement at Rooster's, Pheasant Bonanza's restaurant with full bar.

In addition to our 15-room lodge, Pheasant Bonanza has additional lodging just a quarter-mile down the road named Deuce Ranch. This facility is top notch; it includes four bedrooms featuring eight queen beds, two full baths, kitchen, living room, and dining area. Pheasant Bonanza's lodging is only part of an experience you won't forget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than a Hunting Lodge We hosted my 40th birthday party at Pheasant Bonanza. It is SO much more than a hunting lodge. This property has more in common with an all-inclusive resort than it does a hunting camp. My friends and their wives all had a tremendous event at Pheasant Bonanza and the amenities were enjoyed as much by the ladies in the group as the men. This is true luxury and there is a lot to do for the whole family!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pheasant hunting experience Pheasant Bonanza provides a 1st Class experience: the Lodge, Staff, and Hunting is a exceptional. I have been fortunate to hunt there for at least 6 years. One of the best parts was introducing my son to upland game hunting. Trent always provides 110% to make the hunt and the stay a success. This year I have to say Travis and his dogs were a marvel to watch. This was one of our best years hunting thanks to Travis and his dogs. I highly recommend Pheasant Bonanza. If you see this review Travis post a video (your dogs were exceptional).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch guides and facility This isn’t your ordinary preserve... these birds fly!!! My guide was Travis Brunson, character and dog handling is one of kind. I’ve never heard anyone chatter with his dogs quite the way he does. It’s like he’s having a conversation with them. He sure fits right in with this great staff. I’ve hunted wild birds all through the Midwest and this is the closest thing to the real thing! It’s a must to do!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Attention to Detail! From arrival to departure, the staff was on point with every detail. From the incredible meals (Joey won't leave you hungry), calm and comfortable lounge, and vast hunting grounds, the only bummer is leaving. The managing partner, Trent, is attentive and makes you feel at home. The guides are the real secret. Jase, Mike, and Paul were accommodating and ran great dogs. The birds are plentiful and the terrain is varying. They have flat ground to terraced hillsides. Cannot wait to return!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Experience! This was my second year heading to Pheasant Bonanza. The accomodations were great. We stayed at the Deuce Ranch this year with our hunting group. it was the perfect "guys getaway". The meals were all first class and the staff was great! I'm already looking forward to next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pheasant Bonanza has it all! Impeccable staff, Comfortable luxurious rooms, Outstanding food, and of course, Amazing hunting. Our group was out for a Whitetail hunt, but we had to get a pheasant hunt in. It was challenging but fruitful. The same goes for the deer hunting. Trent and his crew have it dialed in! They handled everything down to the smallest details. Whether it was the warm fire after being out on the hunt, a warm smile from the staff or warm delicious food, this place makes you feel at home! Can't wait for next year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pheasant Bonanza- the complete getaway I was impressed before I even stepped inside! The setting, the staff, the cuisine, the options and the memories I brought home are priceless. I enjoyed my return trip every bit as much as my first. I was deer hunting and was fortunate enough to tag out early in the hunt.... my biggest problem was choosing to do with my spare time. With options of pheasant hunting, coyote hunt, or waterfowl hunting all minutes away I chose to put my feet up in front off a roaring fire and indulge in the best food I've found at any hunting camp. Great experience
