The Story

Established in 1978, Deer Creek Lodge did not evolve overnight. It was borne of passion, dedication, and relentless determination. Legendary first for its trophy whitetails and more recently for its unsurpassed wingshooting, today Deer Creek is truly a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Spring and summer resort activities include trophy catch-and-release bass fishing, horseback riding, 5-stand sporting clays, birding, and hiking. Whatever your sporting interests may be, world-class facilities and amenities provide the perfect setting for your next outdoor adventure, corporate meeting, or family getaway.

Lodging, Meals, and Accommodations:

Rustic elegance and modern technology blend to make Deer Creek’s 10,000 sq. ft. lodge the ultimate in luxurious comfort. Nestled atop a wooded hill overlooking our trophy bass fishery, the new lodge offers eight bedrooms, each with two queen beds, private bath, and satellite TV. Six of the private baths also include Jacuzzi tubs and jetted-shower combinations. An open study area replete with internet and computer access, and a gun room with wooden lockers completes the lower level. On the upper level you will find massive glass windows that provide a stunning view of our trophy bass lake and surrounding countryside.

Here, you can relax in opulent comfort and recall the day's activities with friends at the bar or on one of several seating arrangements that collect the glowing warmth emitted from the massive stone fireplace. Additional amenities include satellite TVs, open bar, pool table, game tables, roomy dining/meeting area, spacious great room, large outdoor deck, pro shop, and full commercial kitchen. No expense has been spared to ensure that this facility will provide you and your family, friends, guests and associates with lasting comfort throughout your stay.

Deer Creek Lodge will provide you with hard flushing, hard-flying birds, luxurious lodging, southern hospitality, and gourmet cuisine at its finest!

Sample of Typical Itinerary:

Whether arriving in the evening or in the morning prior to an afternoon hunt, our guests will arrive to a welcoming staff and a freshly prepared gourmet meal. A typical morning will begin with our famous country breakfast. Our guests will then be greeted by their guides and transported to the fields for their morning hunts. After coming back for lunch and a little R and R, hunters will again be led to the fields by their guides for another action-packed afternoon hunt. Hunters will then be brought back to our lodge where they can enjoy hors d'oeuvres and an open bar, prior to being treated to a three course dinner from our professionally trained chef and his staff.

What is Provided to Customer:

All of our hunts include a private guide in the field, finely trained pointing and flushing dogs, and transportation to and from the field. All birds are then processed, vacuum-packed, labeled, and frozen for easy transport back to your home.

What Should Customers Bring?

Guests should bring clothing that is both comfortable and field-ready when hunting at Deer Creek. We advise clients to be prepared for a variety of weather such as rain or snow depending on what time of year they plan to visit. While most of our guests typically bring their own guns and ammunition, we can provide both at an additional cost. Cameras, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear are also suggested.

On-site Activities:

Deer Creek Lodge offers a variety of activities. Aside from our primary offerings which include a variety of wingshooting opportunities, deer hunting, and spring turkey hunting, we also offer trophy largemouth bass fishing, horse back riding, sporting clays, hiking, and birding opportunities.

Off-site Activities:

Deer Creek Lodge is proud to offer our guests the opportunity to golf at the prestigious Victoria National Golf Club. Located in Newburgh, IN, Victoria National is a short 45 minute drive from our Lodge and provides some of the best golf in the entire country. Since its founding, the club has become a haven for a select group of discerning golf purists. Victoria National Golf Club is rich in history and has a strong heritage of beautiful land and unparalleled golf. "America's Best New Private Course of 1999" now ranks #35 in Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses," and #11 in the Golf Digest Index "Top 50 Modern Clubs". The course at Victoria National was designer Tom Fazio's sixth private course, and his 10th Best New win from Golf Digest, the most any architect has won in a single category.

Through our mutual club membership, Deer Creek Lodge guests can now experience world-class wingshooting and golf in a single excursion. Call us to inquire about our special package offerings.

Date Range:

Deer Creek Lodge is open to our guests year round. Our wingshooting season runs from October through the end of March, while our deer season runs from September into January, and our spring turkey season runs from mid-April through the beginning of May. Our trophy largemouth bass fishing, horseback riding, and sporting clays run throughout the entire year.

Species You Hunt by Season:

Our guests can expect to encounter a large number of bobwhite quail, pheasant, chukar, and Hungarian partridge while afield at Deer Creek Lodge. In addition to encountering large quantities of hard-flying birds, they will be treated to hunting behind our expertly trained bird dogs. Our guides employ the method of using both pointing and flushing dogs in conjunction during our upland hunts. Enjoy watching as our pointing dogs remain steady to wing while our flushing dogs force the birds to a furious flight!

Region/Terrain Where You Hunt:

While hunting at Deer Creek Lodge, you may encounter different terrains. While the majority of the terrain is relatively flat, one must anticipate some moderate hills during their hunt. We are more than happy to accommodate guests that prefer flat terrain or prefer to ride an ATV during their hunt. Our typical climate generally allows for dry walking; however guests are encouraged to bring water-proof footwear in case of inclement weather.

Typical Weather by Season:

Our guests can typically expect to encounter average temperatures between 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the months of October-March. Be advised that early season hunts may experience temperatures warmer than the above stated temperature averages.
