The Story

Enjoy Orvis-Endorsed guided shooting with Jon Hubble of Premier Wingshooting in Texas. What sets Premier Wingshooting apart is its ability to expand or contract the hunting area in relation to a wingshooter's preference and ability. For those looking for a “boots on the ground” experience, our larger courses will have you hiking and earning those flushes. For those wanting a more refined experience with lots of action, our smaller courses keep the wingshooter in the bird while not taxing physical abilities. With grand vistas of rolling hills of native grass, you'll swear you're in Kansas, but with a central Texas locale.

Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Gear Recommendations

Break open shotguns are required for all walk-up hunts. Typically 7.5 and higher shot will do the job on all species.

What To Bring (Additional)

Bring a good pair of boots and layers of clothes as we can have 30º F temps in the morning and 70s F in the afternoons. Hats and sunscreen.

Season

Our typical upland season is from late October through late February. But depending on the weather, we may roll into March.

Species

Quail and chukar partridge are typically hunted, with the odd bonus pheasant harvested on walk-up hunts.

Region/Terrain

We are located in north-central Texas. With large rolling hills of native grasses, the elevation changed adds to the wildness and vistas of Premier Wingshooting.

Typical Weather

Typical winter weather is varied; pack for 30º F temperatures as a low and up to 80º F as a high. A good mix of Orvis lite gear with layering will typically suit any wingshooter

Rates start from: $450/hunter.
