Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide
Located in the centre of the South Coast, I specialize in shore-based bass fishing for one of the UK’s most exciting species. On a good day, you might spend a few hours catching school bass or connect with one of the larger resident fish that will truly test your skills. Combining sight fishing with prospecting in promising areas makes for dynamic and rewarding days on the water.
If you’d like to improve your casting, I’m a certified Fly Fishers International casting instructor and would be happy to help. Whatever you choose, the focus isn’t just on the fishing—it’s about the full experience. From the scenery and wildlife to the skills you’ll pick up along the way, my goal is to make each day both enjoyable and relaxed.
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Saltwater sessions typically run about three hours on either side of high or low tide (timing may vary). Topwater fishing for bass is one of the most thrilling approaches, especially in estuaries and harbours where it’s at its best.
The South Coast of England offers a mix of open coast, harbours, and estuaries—prime habitat for a variety of species that readily take a fly, including European bass, all three species of mullet, mackerel, garfish, and more. Wading in these areas can be muddy, so be prepared to give your waders a good clean afterwards.
A six-hour guided session on saltwater starts at £200. A second person can be added for £100. Contact for prices and seasons for freshwater species.
Casting tuition starts at £35 per hour (usually a 2-hour session).
Stillwater trout may be taken. All other species are catch and release only.
Saltwater licenses are not required. For freshwater species you will require an Environment Agency rod licence and a fishery permit. These can be arranged but are additional costs.
Saltwater sessions are typically 6 hours and will be decided by time and size of tide. Freshwater sessions will vary depending on the species and time of year.
Successful shore-based saltwater fly fishing is dependent on tides, daylight hours, and the weather. Days could start very early, before sunrise, or extend into dark evening hours.
It is recommended that you bring your own tackle for all sessions. Waders will be required for saltwater sessions and may be advised for some freshwater.
Saltwater and some freshwater sessions may not be suitable for beginners, but options can be discussed prior to booking.
