The Story

This 2X heavy wire hook features a 50-degree eye and an elongated needle-claw point. Extra wide bend allows the smallest slotted tungsten beads to be used. Perfect for nymphs and micro streamers, and is extremely effective when fished hook point up.

Imported.

Sizes: 8-18.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Hooks When I was in the Orvis store buying some clothing, I picked up these hooks. I had never used or tied trout flies with jig hooks. I tied up some Pink Squirrels and Mini Meat Whistle flies using regular non slotted brass beads and put the flies in my box for a trip to the Wisconsin Driftless area. These hooks performed very well. I set up my rig to allow the jig flies to drag on the stream bottom. Snags on the stream bottom happened far less than when using standard nymph hooks. These hooks seemed to get good hook ups on fish, too. I have ordered some more of these hooks and some slotted beads to tie up some more flies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hook After looking around for the right barbless jig, I settled on the Orvis Tactical. I love the shank length, quality, and how it fishes. I will certainly be a long time customer of this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really holds the fish! The way these hooks’ point is angled they hold fish so well you’d think they were barbed... until you intentionally remove them to release the fish to live another day. I also like that they ride hook up when a slotted bead is tied-in: fewer snags on the bottom and more positive hookups. I will certainly buy them again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good hook, but bends out I want to love this hook, but it's not quite stout enough and bends out after a handful of average (6-8 lb) carp. There's just too much risk of losing nice fish. There used to be a stouter tactical nymph hook in sizes 6 and 8 that Orvis needs to bring back!
