The Story

Most anglers have a Copper John or two rolling around the fly box. Some have entire rows dedicated to this workhorse of a nymph. There's a reason why: fish can't seem to resist the glinting body and simple profile. The splayed biot tail and tungsten bead head seem to get the job done when the fish are snubbing fancier flies. This version is tied on a tactical jig hook—barbless with a claw point.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An essential nymph in my fly box The Copper John size 14 is an essential nymph in my fly box and one of the first I go to when targeting trout. Works very well and will continue to use it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Copper John w/out the snags! This is a must-have, go-to fly. Great as a dropper fly behind a Sexy Stone. Gets 'em every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best Copper John It’s hard to improve on the Copper John which is one of my go to nymphs but when you add a super sharp barbless jig hook and a tungsten bead you have one great fly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for Fall salmon & trout, Kennebago River Last fall I caught my largest salmon and a trout using this fly. My method of fishing was the Czeck Nymph style, using a point fly with two droppers, this fly was the middle dropper.
