The Story

Our toughest, most technical waterproof hunting jacket—in ToughShell—is a first in upland performance. It combines superior protection in cold, wet, windy weather with the durability bird hunters demand. The innovative hard shell fabric is waterproof and windproof, while the breathable two-layer system allows moisture to escape during strenuous activity. Every hunter, no matter the region, will appreciate the protection from the elements, as well as from thorns and briars. Though lightweight, ToughShell fabric is puncture- and tear-resistant, defying the thickest cover. Mechanical stretch fabric on the main body and articulated elbows offers optimal mobility and a comfortable fit. Reinforced with highly abrasion-resistant fabric on lower back sleeve, front, and back yoke. Watertight underarm zipper for ventilation. Soft, brushed tricot interior for a warm feel. Features include traditional styling, waterproof zippers, a clean design to accommodate a vest, generous pockets with magnetic closures, zippered handwarmer pockets underneath shell pockets, and an adjustable hood. The hidden, extremely low-profile game bag is designed to lay flat when not needed, such as when wearing a vest, but can expand for those hunts when you need to carry harvested game. 240 sq. in. of blaze orange.

Nylon. Washable. Imported.

Sizes M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52), XXXL(54-56).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost a Great Jacket Heavy duty and well constructed. XL was a little tight in the shoulders, XXL was way to big overall. Went with the XL. Not a fan of the magnetic pockets or the game bag. Also, would have been nice to have a license holder on the back. However, the aforementioned issues are not that big of a deal for me as I normally wear a strap vest. Also, I think it's a little overpriced for what you get. That's why I didn't give it a 5. Pick it up on sale and I think it's worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome look, feel and utility with a high price Only a few wears in 30 degree 15-20MPH winds but so far so good. This jacket fits great, appears to be made of good construction and offers a great wind barrier. Layering is required for warmth which is exactly the idea with such a jacket. Not sure of the rain resistance as I haven't worn enough to experience the dryness nor the long-term durability. The utility features in the magnetic pockets is sure nice when using gloves as it keeps pockets open and closed. Also, the arm vents are great to help cool down during activity. However, so far so good with this jacket. Based on its looks, feel and construction I find it to be an exceptional upland jacket and great for any outdoor activity in cold, windy weather requiring some ruggedness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket This is a substantial piece of gear. The quality is as good or better than any other premium brand. The bellows pockets are really well done; magnets are so much better than velcro. The length is right and the cuffs close up in the right place. The other features work for me in the field and around town. The designers knew what works and delivered!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hunting Coat jacket for foul weather days in the field. Light, breathable, and very waterproof without much bulk. Love it. One word of caution -- consider ordering a size up. I wear a XXL is EVERYTHING Orvis, and it has ALWAYS fit me perfectly for years. This seems to be cut with a modern fit, and the XXL was too small on me in the body. Two regrets. One, I wish the hood was removable. And two, I wish the XXXL was made with olive shoulders, because I would use the jacket for things other than hunting if they made it in XXXL. Great coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Coat Wore this coat pheasant hunting in South Dakota during record low temps (7 degrees). The coat breaks the wind like no other I have ever owned. The coat is light in weight but heavy in protection and durability! I love this coat great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny! Got this jacket to have for hunting trips. Can wear it while I hunt or even just around camp if it's rainy. This jacket can actually be worn in many different scenarios because it's both functional and stylish. Very happy with this purchase so far and looking forward to years of use.
