The Story

Designed to be a subsurface fly, the Bully Bluegill Spider is weighted more heavily toward the bend of the hook and falls vertically through the water column. The rubber legs wiggle underwater, creating a lifelike action bluegill simply can't resist. Beneath a popper or an indicator, the Bluegill Spider will catch panfish and bass, although the takes can often be subtle.

Size 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bluegill fly This fly flat out catches fish! Tied on the chartreuse pattern and caught two bluegill within a matter of minutes at my local pond. Fished it under an indicator and they couldn't leave it alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fly I used this fishing of a buddies dock. I caught my limit of 20 sunfish in a little over an hour. Great presentation in the water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bluegill catcher, but poor quality After missing bluegill after bluegill on topwater poppers, I switched to the Bully Bluegill Spider and hardly missed a strike. However, after a coupe of catches, the thread at the head unraveled. I checked my three other new, unused Bullies, and noted a couple already were losing threads. I later added a drop of superglue to the head, but expect much better quality from Orvis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-species Jackpot Used at a local park pond that gets a great deal of fishing pressure, and this fly has been a blast. Largemouth, bluegill and crappie are this fly on my first time using. Definitely ordering more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bluegill Slayer!! I bought this fly at my local orvis in yellow and chartreuse. The bluegills and bass don't even hesitate! The thread wraps came off after about 20 fish, so before you fish with it, I would apply a drop of head cement. I will definitely purchase these again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wet fly I have a ton of bluegill flies in my box, but the bully spider, in Chartreuse, is absolutely the best on the planet, imho. I’ve been fishing the bully for many years now and I know. And the bully is durable, if you don’t lose it to a limb, it will catch you many slabs. I always use an indicator about 4’ up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fly Really impressed with this little fly. I dropped it under a green bass popper and have been catching fish like crazy. I have fished several ponds with it and have caught lots of bluegill, sacalait, chinquapin, and even a bass. I've only had it a few weeks and I just ordered two more in different colors.
