Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! My wife and I just finished the complete trout school and could not have been happier. We went from eager novices to catching 6 kinds of trout and pulling in big browns while sight-fishing with dry flies in just a few short days. Our guides Brian and Jeff were so knowledgeable and patient and made learning the skills we need to fish anywhere a breeze! The lodge was great and Sean kept us well fed from the kitchen. We will definitely be recommending this school to our friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great learning experience and lots of fun! The Orvis school at Falcons Ledge is a rewarding experience that any trout angler—novice or old fly master— will find a fun and informative trip. Putting aside the beautiful setting of Falcon’s Ledge in Utah with crystal waters filled to the brim with multiple species of trout, our Orvis instructor Bryan was a fantastic teacher. As a “city boy”, I came to the school with a little experience from fishing with my dad as a kid with minimal skills or knowledge. After a lesson in fly casting under the instructor’s guidance, I landed a 21-inch Rainbow during the first 10 minutes on the water. It was the first of many fish to follow. Throughout the week our Orvis instructor was a masterful teacher who guided us on techniques and skills on different waters. His knowledge of local waters was impressive and he knew precisely where to find that “hot spot.” His tips and advise were addressed to both the novice and more experienced class participants. I came away from the course with a new found appreciation of fly fishing and the confidence to pursue it for years to come. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning fly-fishing or to improve their skills.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Experience!! I have been a fisherman for 50 years, but I only recently branched out into fly fishing for trout. I had done a few trips with experienced friends, but I wanted to go someplace where I would learn the fundamental skills I need to be a competent fly fisherman. This school gave me those skills and more. Bryan is an excellent teacher (he is also a teacher in private life, so that explains a lot) with endless patience and knowledge. I went into this school feeling like a barely competent rookie; I came out with confidence that I can put a fly pretty much anywhere I need to put it. We covered casting, fly selection, entomology, presentation, etc. On our last afternoon, Bryan put me in a spot on the stream where I caught a rainbow on every cast I made for over an hour. The school was fun and educational. I can't recommend it highly enough!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just an overall great time. Highly recommend. I attended the Complete Trout School at Falcon's Ledge by myself. There were three groups of two and three individuals at the school. The lodge is very nice inside and the amenities and food were very good. The Orvis host, Chris Edlin, was top notch and made all feel welcome and did whatever he could to make sure everyone got as much out of the school as possible. The guides that we were with on river during the two days off the property were good people and helpful. They offered advice and assistance where needed, but also let you learn on your own. I have very limited fly fishing experience and the help I received was enough to keep me fishing but also let me make mistakes and learn from the mistakes. Northeast Utah is beautiful country and a great place to plan a fly fishing trip. I couldn't say enough positive things about the trip except one more day on the rivers would have been ideal so I could practice more of what I learned. A high end Helios II rod and reel to keep and take home made it even better. Eric Metzger
