Season:

Dunoir Fishing Adventures operates year-round and focuses on fisheries as seasons progress. We save our high mountain fisheries near Dubois for the heat of the summer starting from after runoff all the way through the winter. Our tailwater fisheries are guided on nearly twelve months out of the year pending winter temperatures. We don't let a little snow and cold stop us from enjoying fishing!

Species:

Wind River (freestone section Dubois, Wyoming) and tributaries: Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, lake trout, splake, grayling, and whitefish.

Bighorn River: Rainbow trout, brown trout, Yellowstone cutthroat trout and the occasional whitefish, carp, walleye.

Green River: Rainbow trout, brown trout, Colorado River cutthroat trout, lake trout, Kokanee and whitefish.

Region/Terrain:

Wind River and Tributaries: Dubois, Wyoming-Dubois is considered the most remote town in the lower 48. So if getting away from the crowds and having the river to yourself is something you're looking for, look no further! The Wind River is an amazing freestone fishery with big brown trout, Yellowstone cutts, rainbow trout and brook trout. We also have mountain rivers, lakes and streams filled with wild fish. There is an abundance of wildlife here including wolves, grizzly bears, moose, elk, and deer just to name a few. Our guide service also is one of only three to operate on the Wind River below Boysen Dam in Boysen State Park.

Bighorn River: Thermopolis, Wyoming. The Bighorn River in Wyoming is an absolutely amazing fishery that you can fish year-round for big healthy browns, rainbows, and the occasional cutthroat trout. It definitely helps to fish this river from a drift boat as it is a large river, and there is limited and hard to reach public access. The Bighorn River is a true prized tailwater and Wyoming gem that boasts the "World's Largest Hot Springs" for soaking after a day of fishing. Hard to beat soaking in hot springs and fishing on a trip.

Green River: Fontenelle, Wyoming. The Green River in Wyoming located on the West side of the Wind River Mountain Range is a prized tailwater fishery that holds brown trout, rainbow trout, Colorado cutthroat trout, Kokanee in the fall, and Whitefish. It is not unheard of to catch lake trout that have spilled over the dam or come from Flaming Gorge. The Green River is a scenic and wild river at the base of the Wind Rivers. Wildlife including a diverse migratory bird population, moose, coyotes, racoons are commonly seen on the Green River.

Typical Weather:

Spring (March-May): Expect all four season during this time frame. Packing for fishing trips in this time frame tends to require clothes for all types of weather from snow, rain, sun, and wind. Sometimes all in one day.

Summer (June-August): In the higher altitudes of our region and Dubois you can expect all four seasons in June. As July emerges through August, the weather is beautiful with warm-hot summer days and cool nights. Afternoon thunderstorms can and do roll through. In the Bighorn and Green River Basins the days can be very hot. Trips can be adjusted according to the weather during high-heat days.

Fall (September-November): Early fall is probably one of the best times for beautiful weather across Wyoming. Cooler temperatures set in and the dog days of summer have disappeared. As fall progresses weather can be tricky and winter can and does show itself. Be prepared for all types of weather in October-November including snow.

Do I need to purchase a Wyoming fishing license for my trip?

Yes, you need to purchase a fishing license for the day of your trip. It can be purchased online or at locations in the area you are fishing. A day license does not require a conservation stamp, but an annual license does.

Do you provide trips for all levels of anglers?

Yes, our guides pride themselves in working with all levels and abilities. You do not have to have any fly-fishing experience in order to enjoy a day on the water. Yet, our guides can also provide an amazing day on the water for seasoned anglers.

When is the best time of year to come and fish?

It all depends on what type of fishing experience you wish to have. Our guides are available and fishing year-round depending on the weather. We love fishing in the winter with snow as much as fishing in warmth of summer. Contact us and we can discuss your options.
