Species You Fish for by Season:
Rainbow, browns, and cutthroat trout are caught year around. Bass and pike during the summer months. Our rivers are known for their diverse insect hatches: midges, mayflies, stoneflies (including the Colorado River salmonfly hatch in June), and a serious caddis hatch as well.
Region/Terrain Where You Fish:
We are permitted on the Colorado, Eagle, and Roaring Fork Rivers and their tributaries, as well as many small streams and stillwaters. We wade and float for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout. We also have a fully outfitted bass boat for larger stillwaters that have northern pike and bass.
Typical Weather by Season:
We fish year-round in the Vail Valley. Being in a high alpine desert elevation means that we have the ability to move down valley or up valley depending on temperatures. Colorado is known for its microclimates. Even during winter we are able to float and wade many of our rivers. Summer climates in the mountains range from mid-80s in the day to low 50s in the evenings. The winter climate can range from the 30s-40s in the daytime depending on what elevation we fish. Spring offers fantastic weather and great fishing opportunities that complement a day on the mountain.
