The Story

A perfect fit means more miles in comfort, and covering water is what the PRO BOA Wading Boot's all about. Featuring the BOA Fit System this is, by far, the most advanced wading boot ever. The PRO Wading Boot was an industry-first collaborative effort with Michelin®, built on an outsole compound specifically designed for fly fishing. This revolutionary new sole design is an industry-disrupting advance in wet rubber traction. The Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole offers 25% better abrasion resistance and a resounding 43% improvement in wet rubber traction over the competition. Using Michelin tire geometry, it offers a wider footprint for stability, a higher ratio of surface contact, and a lug pattern that reduces shock and improves pressure distribution. The two-layer midsole has a co-molded ESS plate that provides improved stud retention and torsional stability. Orvis partnered with OrthoLite® to create a 3D molded X25 insole designed for high-impact sports, delivering maximum comfort and arch support. An industry-first cast PU upper eliminates seams while providing a zoned cage for added stability, grip, and extreme abrasion resistance without the added bulk. The boot is higher cut for ankle support and lined with closed-cell foam. Scratch rubber at the toe cap and heel for abrasion resistance, an oversized heel pull for easier on-and-off, and tightly woven laces reduce broken laces. In shadow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First day on the new boots yesterday Light, outstanding grip out of the water, excellent grip in the water. Love the BOA system. No speed lace "lugs" to poke holes in your gravel guards. I love the fact you can tighten them a little once they get wet, right through the gravel guards, just twist up a few clicks and there you go! Order up to 2 sizes larger than your street shoes though. I wear a 9 1/2 street shoe and picked up a pair of size 12 boots based on the dealer's recommendation that they run small. He was almost right. They're about 1/2 size too big, but I can put in a little orthotic to take up a little space if I have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Combine with Posigrip Studs for Ultimate Grip! I fished in the lace-up version of this shoe 130 days in 2020. I bought the BOA version after shoulder surgery to make suiting up easier. This is NOT the previous generation of rubber soles! The modern rubber offers far more grip, but I still recommend adding the Posigrip studs. This is a light, athletic shoe, and offers good flex in the ball of your foot to stave off plantar fascitis issues. Many companies offer great shoes, but if the soles don't flex at all, they can lead to arch pain. The BOA dial is convenient, and allows you to customize fit. You may need to coax the wire a bit by hand until the shoe breaks in a bit. A nice feature of BOA is that there is no dangling laces to trip or catch things underwater. The gravel guards on my waders fit nicely over the dial. These shoes are excellent for hiking into spots, along with wading. They earn my highest recommendation. If you require very tight ankle support, the lace alternative is excellent also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need a felt option Rubber and treads are great, but a FELT option leaves a huge VOID

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Foot support I bought my first Orvis Boa when they came on the market some 8 years ago. I needed the support as I had a torn foot tendon. The first pair gave me the support to fish for 4 hours. This week I bought the newest version and could fish for 6 hours. This 74 year old wants to thank the great team at Plymouth Meeting for all their help over the years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work like a charm I wear a size 10 every day shoe. I found these in a size 12 to be an amazing fit with thick socks and my stocking foot waders. Great size toe box, and the BOA system works amazing for getting in and out quick as well as tightening on the river! Definitely worth the investment for NE Ohio steelheading! We will see how they hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase ever Used these boots for the first time last weekend. I have had trouble keeping my older boots laced, especially when on the water. These PRO BOA Wading Boots solved that problem. Easy on! Easy off! The stay tight. Love 'em!
