Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proper set of moleskin breeks Great overall in terms of quality. Fit is a bit strange so agree going a bit large. Would have been perfect with buckles on the bottom vs. Velcro but no one sees it so worked well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go by your waist size and size up one. Guess what? Women can wear these too! I am a size 10 in LL Bean denim jeans and ordered a size 50 and they fit me very well. I am thrilled to find these. Ordered a pair in both colors and expect them to last practically a lifetime because of their quality and craftmanship. I didn't want a pair of dressy tweed breeks, just something casual and durable for hiking, and this moleskin is very nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quality moleskin, button sewing ok, size explained First off, the reason, in plain English, that these breeks appear undersized is that they have a relatively low rise .. the belt line on size 54 (37") basically runs slightly below the top of the hip bone, about 1" to 2" below .. I am 5' 10" tall, 180 #, 43" chest, no gut .. and wear a size 35" waist in a pant that has a rise bringing the belt line up to the curve of my natural waist line about 2" above the top of the hip bone .. since the belt line on these breeks sits below the top of the hip bone, one naturally would usually need a waist measurement several inches larger, since the hip bone in most folks tends to spread the measurement out .. I need a 37" waist line for a low rise pant that does not reach the top of the hip bone .. as of yet, I am undecided about keeping the 54's .. I actually ordered 52, 54, and 56 or 36", 37", and 38" respectively in order to judge the fit .. I had guessed that the 54 (37") would probably work, although I did not yet know about the low rise on the pant .. so now I understand the reason why Orvis says to order 2" to 3" bigger than your usual waist size .. but what Orvis does not do is explain the low rise on this pant, something that would automatically explain the need for a bigger waist measurement .. there is nothing whacko about the actual garment sizing of the pant once one understands that its waist size below the hip bone determines its garment measurement on the body .. I happen to prefer higher rise pants and am a tad skeptical that this lower rise is going to be good in the field chasing game or exerting on a nice hike or whatever and still keeping the shirt tucked in comfortably .. the rise is not ridiculously plumber butt low, but is close to that .. so beware about the rise when ordering and figure out what your waist line measurement is 2" below the top of your hip bone and you'll be all set ordering that size pant .. as for the moleskin, it is quality material and the overall features of the pant are nice .. drawback for me is that the leg opening is adjustable by velcro, with that nasty tearing sound .. would have preferred a slide buckle, but this is not a deal killer .. bronze pair size 54 had the buttons at the front of the waist sewn on well, size 54 in loden not so much and these will have to be reinforced and refastened .. could have been a 5 star pant with the rise 2" higher in front and rear, bringing the belt line up to the natural waist, giving a more comfortable fit in the field (for me, anyway) and if the button sewing had better quality control .. so there you go.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Way too small. Designed for untra skinny types even though site said to add a size

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Small? Was warned that they ran small and to order 2 sizes larger than normal - wow - they were still at least 1 if not 2 sizes too small. Glad I could take them back to my local store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from solid construction This is a well constructed garment. I ordered a waist size two sizes larger as per the instructions on the web and they fit quite well albeit a tad large. To make this garment perfect, I would suggest a higher rise in the rear of the waist. They have withstood the rigors of the hunting season in Maine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Quality for Cost One should never limit the range of use for specialized clothing attire. The "Moleskin Breeks", traditionally identified with Hunting,Shooting, are also an excellent addition to Hickory Golf attire for "Period Dress" of the early 20th Century. Extremely comfortable for fall, winter and spring weather. Very durable and very well made. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality These breeks run pretty small in the waist. I usually wear a 34-35 waist so I got the 36. Way too tight. I got the 38's which seemed ridiculous, but they did fit, although a little big. I was just in NY at the Orvis store, so I thought that I would just check the sizes again. The 36's were still way to tight.
