Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge in Hardin, Montana.
100% customer satisfaction has been our commitment since 1856. It's who we are. If you aren't happy with a product or service, we want to know about it. And we'll make it right.
THAT'S THE ORVIS WAY.
Eagle Nest Lodge, MT
In 1985, Eagle Nest Lodge was built along the banks of the Bighorn River. In 1986, it was chosen among the inaugural group of lodges to receive an endorsement from the The Orvis Company for fly fishing excellence. The lodge earned the first Orvis endorsement for wingshooting in 1990, marking Eagle Nest as the first operation to achieve endorsements for both wingshooting and fly fishing. In 2008, Eagle Nest was awarded the Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year!
Eagle Nest continues to be operated with the same care and attention to detail that has made it a premier outdoor destination. We are nestled among the cottonwoods along the lower Bighorn River. Eagle Nest perfectly combines the rustic beauty of Montana with the comforts of the modern age. The lodge caters to small groups of anglers and hunters who will accept nothing short of the very finest service available.
Eagle Nest Lodge prides itself on its guide and lodge staff. The managers, John and Rebecca Shirley, have managed Eagle Nest Lodge since June 2002. Sherri Kenney, our chef, was hired July 2002 and has been here since. Many of the guides working have also been with Eagle Nest prior to 2002. There are great choices along the Bighorn River. However, we believe we offer a unique experience which is why we have been so successful with our repeat guests. The majority of our staff and guides have been with us for over 17 years. We encourage our guides and staff to get to know our guests. You're more than welcome to come into the kitchen to talk to Sherri, our chef and check out what's for dinner. Our guides enjoy coming back to the lodge after a day of fishing and spending time with guests on the back patio. John and Rebecca enjoy appetizers and dinner with you in the evening. We strive for great service and hospitality. Sure, there is great fishing on the Bighorn, but it's the whole package that brings you back. We hope to see you here on the Horn!
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Dining at Eagle Nest has always been a prominent element of every guest's stay. Our dining room is a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere that fosters an air of fellowship among people who share common interests. Our most commonly asked question from returning guests is: "Is your chef still there?" “Yes, Sherri our chef has been with us since June of 2002. Need we say more? The food is incredible!” Every morning is started with a made-to-order breakfast. From eggs Benedict, pancakes, eggs, oatmeal. Well, you get the idea. Lunch is served in the field.
Returning to the lodge for the evening cocktail, you'll enjoy appetizers among friends, followed by an amazing dinner of rack of lamb, beef tenderloin, salmon—always followed by a homemade dessert. Sherri's creme brûlée is one of the best you'll ever have.

Fishing: April-Thanksgiving Bird Hunting: September-Thanksgiving
The Bighorn River is teaming with rainbow and brown trout. The Bighorn River provides excellent fishing April through November. As a tailwater fishery, heavy runoff is never a problem, making it one of the few fisheries where fishing is as good in April and May as it is during summer and fall. The Bighorn averages between 4,000-6,000 trout per mile.
Here's a general description on hatches: Of course, never guaranteed!
Bighorn River: We combine float fishing from McKenzie-style drift boats with traditional stalk and wade techniques.
Although, wait five minutes and it'll change, so no guarantees.
Rates are quoted per person, double occupancy
Fly-Fishing Packages starting at: $1900.00 per person/based on double occupancy. For more information on rates visit: www.eaglenestlodge.com

No, we are located on the Crow Reservation. The reservation is a dry reservation, therefore it is illegal for us to provide. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own.
We have lots of beginner fisherman and our guides are fantastic. The majority of our guides and staff have been with us for over 18 years. They are great with beginners and advanced fisherman alike.
That would depend on the condition of the water and hatches. Our typical float is anywhere from 10-13 miles per day. During summer and fall months we fish the lower Bighorn River which is virtually deserted and provides some of the best hopper and streamer fishing on the Bighorn. And almost always the biggest fish!
Yes.
We spray for mosquitoes so usually not an issue here at the lodge. Typically they won't bother you on the water.
Fall Cast and Blast Packages and Upland Bird Hunting packages also available.
