The Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing School is hosted by Wequassett Resort & Golf Club in East Harwich, MA, and takes full advantage of its location on the elbow of Cape Cod, which is often regarded as one of the best places in the world to sight fish for striped bass in shallow water.

At the school you will learn from expert Orvis instructors with hands on casting instruction. We teach the Orvis Progressive Method of Fly-Casting and specialize in working with novice anglers and anglers looking to improve their skills. You will learn saltwater specific tactics, how to choose your gear, and techniques to prepare you for a day on the water. You'll cover it all at the Cape Cod Fly-Fishing School.
At the school you’ll learn from expert instructors with hands-on casting instruction, saltwater-specific tactics, and techniques to prepare you for a day on the water. We teach the Orvis Progressive Method of Fly Casting and specialize in working with both novice and advanced anglers who want to improve their skills. We’ll emphasize fly casting, tackle and fly selection, rigging, and proper release techniques.

Cancellation Policy & Fees: If the reservation is cancelled 60+ days from your school date, Orvis will offer a full refund back to the original method of payment, or the reservation can be transferred to another available school. If the reservation is cancelled 30-60 days from the date of the school, the customer will have a choice between a refund of 50% or transferring the reservation to another available school. On cancellations 29 days or less there is no refund and no transfer. There will be no refund extended to students who do not attend their scheduled school and do not notify the school within the timeframes listed in this policy. Any reservation that has been transferred to a different date cannot be later cancelled without 100% payment penalty.

Cost includes instruction, lunch and the use of Orvis premium fly rod outfits, which include 9ft graphite rods, for 8wt & 9wt WF floating fly lines. Students are responsible for breakfast, dinner, and lodging.

Yes, when students arrive the instructors will issue a 20% discount that can be used at any Orvis Retail Store.
Students should dress according to weather. We recommend wearing Quick-Dry and DriCast tops and bottoms. Please plan to layer during cooler months with long sleeve shirts and a vest. Please remember to bring rain gear as school goes rain or shine. For a full list of recommended clothing please email us at schools@orvis.com.

Class size is kept small with a max of 8 students, always with a ratio of one instructor for every four students.
