Trout OPS specializes in personalized day-trip fly fishing adventures rather than a traditional lodge-based experience. This flexible approach allows Trout OPS to fish the waters offering the best seasonal opportunities, whether targeting trout, steelhead, king salmon, or shad.

For guests traveling from outside the region, Trout OPS can recommend quality hotels, vacation rentals, and riverfront accommodations near its fisheries. Sacramento provides convenient airport access and serves as an excellent central base, while several nearby river towns offer a more immersive fishing experience.

From lodging and dining recommendations to local travel logistics, Trout OPS can help simplify the planning process so you can focus on enjoying an exceptional day on the water.

No two days on the river are exactly alike—and that’s part of the adventure.

Whether floating the river at sunrise, exploring a productive run, or searching for rising trout on a quiet riffle, every trip is built around current conditions and your goals as an angler. Some guests come to learn the fundamentals of fly fishing, while others arrive looking to refine advanced techniques or pursue a personal-best fish. Either way, the day is tailored specifically to you.

Expect plenty of hands-on instruction, local knowledge, and honest conversation while fishing some of Northern California’s most rewarding waters. Along the way, you’ll learn not only how to catch more fish, but also how to read water, understand insect activity, and think like a successful angler.

Between casts, take in the scenic river surroundings, abundant wildlife, and the simple rhythm that makes time on the water so meaningful. The day includes a comfortable riverside lunch, time to share stories, and plenty of opportunities to make the most of what the river offers.

At Trout OPS, the goal isn’t simply to put fish in the net—it’s to create an experience you'll remember long after the river is behind you and to help you leave a better angler than when you arrived.

Northern California is home to some of the most diverse and productive fly fishing waters in the West, and Trout OPS guides across many of its premier tailwaters and river systems. From the crystal-clear flows of the Lower Mokelumne to the legendary runs of the Yuba, Feather, American, Stanislaus, and Sacramento rivers, each fishery offers its own character, challenges, and rewards.

The Lower Mokelumne is the heart of the Trout OPS operation. With exclusive private access and carefully selected drift-boat routes, guests enjoy a level of solitude and opportunity rarely found in today’s crowded angling world. Cottonwood-lined banks, shaded riffles, deep emerald runs, and abundant wildlife create a setting that feels far removed from the pace of everyday life.

These rivers support thriving populations of trout, steelhead, salmon, and shad, while year-round insect activity creates exciting opportunities for dry fly, nymph, and streamer fishing. A unique combination of drifting and strategic walk-and-wade fishing allows anglers to experience water that many others simply pass by.

Whether you’re watching a trout rise in a quiet tailout or drifting through a secluded canyon at first light, these special places have a way of slowing time and reminding you why you fish. Once experienced, they’re difficult to forget.

Rates start at $450 for a half-day and $650 for a full-day guided trip for 1–2 anglers.

Full-day trips include a hearty riverside lunch, drinks, all necessary tackle, and expert instruction.

Veteran, first responder, group, and multi-day package pricing is available.
