6. Navigation through the “Ultima Esperanza” fiord (glacier view).

The Area

Our operation is in the south end of the Patagonian Andes, on Ultima Esperanza’s opening to the Pacific Ocean. From here, we have access to flat and typical Patagonian meandering spring creeks and medium-size grasshopper-type of water. Some of them are no more than four feet wide, and it’s possible to find any size of fish there. Mountain rivers are also on the menu for those who like to hike to water that few people have fished. We also have a number of mid-size and larger rivers, which we like to fish when the browns start to swim upriver as they prepare for spawning season. In general terms, our watershed has two classifications. Most of what we fish are resident brown trout; they are happy and hungry from November through April. As you explore the map, you’ll see that our rivers are connected to lakes and the ocean. We have healthy and strong fish moving back and forth using the streams as their highway. The best time to find lake run brown trout *starts the second week of February, but March and April are the best months. (*This type of fishing requires particular conditions, so please contact us directly and we’ll provide the best recommendation.)

Fly-Fishing Puerto Natales

The geography is both wild and diverse in Patagonia. You’ll find glacier-carved valleys, lakes, lagoons, ponds, long, meandering spring creeks, mid-size and large rivers that flow into the Pacific Ocean, while others run into the Atlantic. Overall, it presents a unique and fantastic opportunity for anglers from all over the world.
