100% customer satisfaction has been our commitment since 1856. It's who we are. If you aren't happy with a product or service, we want to know about it. And we'll make it right.
THAT'S THE ORVIS WAY.
At M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays, tradition, expertise, and experience come together to deliver something truly uncommon. Owned and operated by three generations of the Matarese family, M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays is one of the only full-service hunting and sporting clays destinations in the United States—offering diverse wingshooting opportunities, two premier sporting clays courses, a world-renowned shooting school, and an onsite lodge.
Set across 1,400 acres along the brackish marshlands of the Salem River in Southern New Jersey, the natural environment is ideally suited for exceptional mallard duck hunting. From classic sunrise and sunset decoy hunts to a high-volume duck-shooting experience unlike any other, the resource and the operation work seamlessly together. Convenient access further enhances the experience, with a private airport located just six miles away and Philadelphia International Airport only 22 miles from the property.
In 2016, the Matarese family refined their hunting program to emphasize a more traditional fair-chase experience—further distinguishing M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays in today’s market. Backed by more than 65 years in the hunting and shooting industry, the focus remains on delivering a complete, first-class experience rooted in genuine hospitality.
The property itself reflects this legacy. The lodge, with origins dating back to the late 1600s, offers a comfortable and historic setting to unwind after the day’s pursuits.
Recognized on the world stage, M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays has hosted the World Sporting Clays Championship and multiple U.S. Opens—an enduring testament to the quality, consistency, and reputation of the experience.
For those seeking more than just a hunt or a round of clays, M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays offers a destination defined by authenticity, performance, and tradition.
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

A great hunting or shooting trip is about the memories—made in the field with friends and family, and re-lived afterward in the comfort of a true sporting lodge. At M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays, our private lodge offers a setting that feels both authentic and unforgettable.
Set on one of the oldest working farms in New Jersey, the property dates back to the late 1600s, when Swedish settler Anders Seneca established the original homestead known as Obisquahassit. Over the centuries, the home has been thoughtfully restored and preserved, maintaining its historic character while incorporating modern comforts.
Today, the lodge features six well-appointed rooms with a total of 12 beds, offering a variety of sleeping configurations, each with a private bathroom. Guests enjoy spacious gathering areas, a sportsman’s library, a card room, an outdoor patio with a fire pit, and a dedicated gun-cleaning room. To preserve the traditional lodge experience, guest rooms remain free of televisions, while wifi and modern amenities are available throughout.
Each morning begins with coffee and a continental breakfast, with a hot breakfast also available at the lodge. Evenings can be highlighted by a private chef-prepared dinner by reservation. Located just off the main M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays grounds, the lodge offers both convenience and privacy for your group.
More than a place to stay, the M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays lodge is where the experience comes together—rooted in history, comfort, and tradition.
At M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays, there are a variety of options depending on how you choose to spend your day in the field. Overnight guests typically arrive midday to early afternoon, enjoy a round of sporting clays, and then unwind at the lodge with hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and a cocktail by the fire.
Each morning begins with either a continental or hot breakfast at the lodge. Your day in the field can be tailored to your preference—whether pursuing traditional upland birds, experiencing a decoying duck hunt, or participating in high-volume bird shooting. Many guests also take advantage of private shooting instruction with one of our World Champion instructors.
Lunch is most often served at the clubhouse, the central hub for your hunting and shooting activities. For those seeking a more private and formal setting, lunch can also be arranged at the lodge. Birds harvested during your hunt can be processed and prepared for you to take home.
Guests typically stay anywhere from one to four nights at the lodge, depending on their travel schedule and the experiences they wish to enjoy while at M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays. Our all-inclusive package, The Ultimate M&M Experience, is a two-night offering and remains our most popular choice.
M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays is set along the edge of Mannington Meadow, a vast brackish tidal marsh on the Salem River, creating a landscape rich in tradition and alive with natural movement. This unique habitat provides ideal conditions for decoying mallard duck hunts, where birds work naturally over open water, as well as a one-of-a-kind setting for high-volume duck shooting in a true marsh environment.
Beyond the water, our upland grounds are carefully managed to mirror natural bird habitat, featuring thickets, hedgerows, and cultivated fields designed for both cover and feed. The result is an authentic, dynamic hunting experience that feels as natural as it is consistent.
At the heart of the property sits the M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays hunting lodge, a place where history and hospitality meet. Its story dates back to the late 1600s, when Swedish settler Anders Seneca purchased more than 2,000 acres from Chief Obisquahassit—whose name in the Lenni-Lenape language means “by the muddy waters.” Recognized as the oldest working farm in New Jersey, this original homestead and its surrounding acreage remain known today as Obisquahassit.
At M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays, we offer a variety of experiences across a range of price points, ensuring there is something for every guest. We take pride in providing options that accommodate different preferences and budgets while maintaining the quality and service that define the M&M Hunting & Sporting Clays experience.
From all-inclusive packages to à la carte offerings, guests can tailor their experience to exactly what they are looking for.
