Season:
Dove shooting is year-round. Pigeon hunting goes from May to September.
Species:
What species can you hunt at Sierra Brava? You can hunt doves and pigeons.
Region/Terrain:
Sierra Brava is located next to the hills, by a beautiful lake.
Typical Weather:
Argentina dove hunting season is open year-round and the shooting can be spectacular any day of the year. The climate in Cordoba is moderate and we are rarely affected by any type of extreme weather. Keeping in mind that the dove hunting season in the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere are reversed, here is a quick breakdown of the weather in Cordoba and the dove hunting throughout the year:
Dove hunting in the spring (September-December):
This is the time of year that we enjoy terrific weather and high-volume shooting extremely close to the lodge here in Cordoba. In early spring, high temperatures average in the mid 70s F and by late spring they may reach into the mid 80s. Evening temperatures typically range from the high 40s to the low 60s.
Dove hunting in the summer (December-March):
During the summer months we enjoy our longest days of the year which allows hunters to enjoy a couple of extra hours of shooting each day. While the days can be warm, temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees and evening lows are usually around 60 degrees.
Dove hunting in fall (March-June):
The fall happens to coincide and overlap with our heavy harvesting season in Cordoba. The doves can be quite active during this time as they flock from farm to farm looking for remaining crops. There are occasions when massively intense concentrations of birds converge on a property resulting in what is called a 'dove hurricane'. Daytime temperatures are usually a comfortable 65-70 degrees and evening temperatures can dip to 45-55 degrees.
Dove hunting in winter (June-September):
Our winter here in Cordoba is usually very moderate and arid with little rain. We enjoy cloudless blue skies throughout much of the season, making for ideal dove hunting conditions. Daytime highs range between 60 and 70 degrees, with lows in the mid 40s.

Gear Recommendations:
The dove hunting gear that we are going to use will depend on the time of the year in which we are, the specific weather conditions and the type of hunting that we are going to practice. Then, in a general way, we will detail the clothes or clothing to be used to face a hunting day. Dark colored or camouflage hunting clothes and hats are highly recommended.
We will start from bottom to top. Boots, lightweight or ankle-height is all you need. Many shooters even wear sneakers. Snake boots are recommended from November to March. Comfortable clothes for relaxing in the lodge such as jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, caps, etc.
The trousers could be multipockets with a silent, waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric. Dark-colored, or camouflage.
For the top, we will use T-shirt (100% cotton) and shirt both with pocket.
Clothing for layering: Sweaters, long sleeve cotton shirts, polar fleece zip-up tops. We can also make use of hunting vests with 100% cotton silent fabric, windbreaker, breathable and abrasion-resistant and, of course, multi-pockets. This vest should have the possibility to become reversible in high visibility. Then for the head we will use caps, hats or hats depending on the conditions.
For rainy days, a lightweight rain suit and waterproof hat. Leather shooting gloves are strongly recommended to avoid blisters. Shooting glasses, sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm.
When we are going to practice some type of hunting that requires a maximum of integration with the environment we will use camouflage clothing that has elements created with 3-dimensional effects, natural elements (such as branches, leaves). Soft and silent fabric to avoid being detected by the doves.
