The Story

Southeastern Anglers is among the oldest, most well-established fly-fishing outfitter and guide services in the southeastern US. Our team of mature guides have a lifetime of experience on the best fly-fishing waters the Southeast has to offer. We offer drift boat and jet boat trips on the Southeast's finest tailwaters for rainbow and brown trout as well as smallmouth bass and some other species. Located within thousands of acres of National Forest with large rivers, lakes, and streams near and available. We are a short drive from most major metropolitan hubs in the Southeast. Some of our rivers currently being serviced are the Hiwassee, Clinch, Holston, Toccoa, French Broad, Tellico, and Cumberland Rivers, as well as some high mountain reservoirs.

Southeastern Anglers was founded in 1999 as we pioneered drift boat fly fishing on these great southeastern tailwaters.

What is Provided:

A light rain jacket, appropriate dress, cap or hat, polarized sunglasses, and a fishing license is usually all this is required on our trips. We can furnish the rest. Our trips include use of Orvis rods and reels if needed, bottled water and soft drinks, deluxe shore lunches on full-day trips and all terminal tackle needed as well as flies. Orvis waders and boots are available for client use on wade fishing trips.

Gear Recommendations:

Gear selection will depend on the venues selected and appropriate clothing for the season. From 4 wt. rods on the small streams to 8 wt. rods for streamers on the larger rivers and lakes. We will detail your needs within your trip confirmation with us.

What to Bring:

Bring a camera for photos if you like. Our drift and jet boat trips offer plenty of storage additional items you may wish to bring.

Year-round trout fishing. Spring and summer is known as our "dry fly" time. The winter streamer fishing often yields the largest brown trout of the year.

Our base of operation is located within the southern Appalachian mountains and Cherokee National Forest areas of east Tennessee. Our Cumberland River, Kentucky trips take place on the mighty Cumberland River in a pastoral farmland setting away from the bustle of big city life.

Typical Weather:

Our area of east Tennessee and south central Kentucky experience all four seasons with each being typically mild.
