The Story

Spring Creek Lodge sits on the banks of the legendary Chimehuín River, in the heart of Northern Patagonia’s trout country. From this comfortable riverside base, guests have access to a remarkable variety of waters, including flat fishing from rafts, productive walk-and-wade streams, and select stillwater opportunities for brown, rainbow, and brook trout.

As one of Set Fly Fishing’s exclusive lodge experiences, Spring Creek Lodge reflects the company’s signature approach: thoughtful trip planning, warm Argentine hospitality, professional guiding, and a strong connection to place. Each fishing week is shaped around the guest—water conditions, angling experience, preferred fishing style, and the kind of trip they want to enjoy.

Some days may focus on covering larger rivers by raft; others may be spent stalking trout on foot, exploring smaller streams, fishing stillwaters, or sharing the day with a spouse, family member, or friend who wants to experience Patagonia beyond the fishing.

Our team lives and works in this region, and their role goes beyond putting guests on fish. They help create a complete Patagonia experience, with the right balance of fishing, comfort, service, and local character.

Guests may fish larger rivers from rafts, wade productive streams, or explore stillwater opportunities when conditions are right. The program is designed to offer a broad view of Northern Patagonia trout fishing, while keeping each day comfortable, personal, and well-paced.

Spring Creek Lodge is a full-board experience, with professional local guides, Argentine-style meals, and a curated selection of boutique Argentine wines included as part of the stay. For those interested in exploring beyond the fishing, the area also offers opportunities to enjoy the landscape, local culture, and relaxed pace of Patagonia.

Northern Patagonia is one of the world’s great wild trout regions, with a landscape that shifts from forested, rain-influenced areas to transition zones and open steppe. For U.S. anglers, the variety may feel reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest, but with a distinctly Argentine character.

Spring Creek Lodge sits on the banks of the Chimehuín River, with Lanín Volcano as one of the region’s defining landmarks. From this base, guests can access a wide range of waters, each offering a different fishing experience.

Larger rivers, such as the Chimehuín, Collón Curá, Aluminé, and Caleufú, offer classic Patagonia float fishing from rafts, with varied sections, structure, and seasonal opportunities. Some larger stretches also allow for multi-day float trips.

Smaller waters, including the Malleo River, offer a more intimate walk-and-wade experience, with distinct sections and technical fishing opportunities.

Stillwater options add another layer to the program, including Tromen Lake, a glacial-origin lake known for its crystal-clear water, dramatic scenery, and proximity to Lanín Volcano.

Spring Creek Lodge's full-week program is $7,850 per person, based on double occupancy and two anglers per guide/raft. The same rate applies to fishing and non-fishing guests. The program includes lodging, guided fishing for anglers, fishing gear, waders and boots if needed, meals, wines, and lodge services during the stay.

Single occupancy, private lodge requests, and customized travel arrangements are available upon request. Please contact Set Fly Fishing for current availability, inclusions, and detailed trip-planning information.

How do guests get to Spring Creek Lodge?

Guests typically fly overnight into Buenos Aires, with nonstop service from major U.S. gateways including Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, and New York. We recommend one night in Buenos Aires before continuing to Patagonia, creating a comfortable buffer between international and domestic flights. From Buenos Aires, guests fly to Chapelco Airport, about 30 minutes from the lodge. On the return, an extra night in Buenos Aires is usually not required.

What is a day like at the lodge?

Days are shaped around each guest. Anglers can enjoy full days on the water, while companions may choose a slower pace, relaxed lodge time, or optional activities. Evenings bring everyone together for cocktails, dinner, Argentine wines, and stories from the day.

Can the lodge assist with flights and additional services?

Yes. Set Fly Fishing can help coordinate domestic flights, transfers, Buenos Aires hotel nights, and additional pre- or post-trip travel in Argentina.

Can you accommodate dietary preferences or restrictions?

Yes. Please share dietary needs in advance so the lodge team can plan accordingly.
