What is Provided:
Transportation, flies, and leaders are provided by the guide. We have Orvis gear rental options when you book your trip with us.
Gear Recommendations:
What Should Customers Bring?
Waders are recommended in early and late season trips. In the peak of summer there is the option to wet wade.
Quick-dry shorts or pants and socks are best under waders. A fleece jacket for early morning and a rain jacket in case of showers is a good idea. Polarized sunglasses are helpful if available. Please bring a reusable water bottle and your favorite snack.
What to Bring:
A small pack including: Fishing license, rain coat, sunscreen, water bottle, snack, hat, sunglasses, your sense of adventure!
Season:
The fly-fishing season runs from late May to the end of October. However, we do offer winter, as well as early spring fly-fishing trips upon request depending on weather conditions.
Species:
Rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat, and cuttbow trout are found in the waters around the area. Continuing hatches of caddis, stoneflies, PMDs, hoppers, and BWOs are common.
Region/Terrain:
Telluride Fly Fishers offers walk/wade trips on the San Miguel and Dolores Rivers and high country lakes of the San Juan Mountains near Telluride, Colorado. Red sandstone canyon walls accent clear pools and long freestone runs, creating the ideal fishing experience. Our local rivers and streams excel in beauty and diversity with brook, rainbow, cutthroat, brown and cutbow trout.
Typical Weather:
We have Colorado blue skies and the possibility of afternoon showers in late July and August. We also typically have cooler mornings with water temperatures of around 40-50 degrees.

Drive times to the fishing areas vary from 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

Telluride Fly Fishers is catch and release only. We do our best to minimize our impact on the environment.
