The Story

In some rivers, especially on smaller streams, up to 80% of a trout's summer diet is terrestrial insects - and much of that is beetles. Rosenbauer Parachute Beetle flies are a size 14 first, and if that doesn't work, go next with a 16. Beetles are also great strike indicators to use with small nymphs.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional terrestrial I fish this beetle almost exclusively now at the Red Feather Lakes in Northern Colorado. I have tried other patterns, but this one works consistently better. I can't explain why. I buy these by the dozen. It would be nice to have a #10 size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fish seem to like these it's late July, in iowa (driftless zone) and i just got some of these beetles our brown trouts seem to like them, and give very satisfying strikes. The beetles get wet pretty fast, and you need to use floatant

Rated 4 out of 5 by from multiple use fly I like this fly because it floats well easy to see in the water. Not only do fish like this fly it works great to drop another fly off it. Use it as an indicator sometimes catch two fish at once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Terrestrial Fly I have found this fly to be one of the best all-round terrestrial patterns to fish during the latter part of the summer. Just the right amount of flash underneath the fly, easy to see in the water, and gives you the correct attention getting splat on the surface. A pleasure to fish with or without a dropper.
