Our Services
Orvis Pursell Farms offers 16 stations designed to simulate a variety of true field shots. Adding to the versatility of the course is the unique trapper experience offered; one of Orvis Pursell Farm’s team of trappers will join you on the course and can customize stations based on your needs.
Orvis hosts many outdoor enthusiasts who are in pursuit of an excellent clay shooting experience: and the sporting clays course at the base of Chalybeate Mountain provides that with a diverse combination of open fields and a natural canopy of southeastern hardwoods. In addition to the Sporting Clays Course, Orvis Pursell Farms also offers 2 covered Five Stands and Wobble Trap.
A trapper will join you on the course, ensuring you have the best experience possible.
Orvis Pursell Farms’ highly trained instructional fly-fishing and wingshooting staff can help with any experience level. From the novice to the pro you can expect to receive the personal attention needed to elevate and improve your skills.
If you would like to join one of our fly-fishing or wingshooting school dates, if you simply want a refresher after a school, a warm up for that trip to England shooting high pheasants, or that trip to the Gunnison in Colorado casting for trout; our school instructors are available for private instruction all year round.
Must be at least 12 years old to participate in a shooting school. Maximum 4 shooters per session.
The most exclusive venue offered at Pursell Farms is a private membership. Orvis Pursell Farms has traditionally been dedicated to upland bird hunting and has a classic flair for what a traditional hunting club should be. Our extensive facilities include four upland fields for hunting pheasants and quail, along with a traditional continental hunting area. Our duck-hole resides in a mix of flooded timber and open water, offering the perfect wetland habitat for waterfowl game. The preserve hunting season runs from October 15 to March 15. Make an appointment to tour the gun club. We are sure it will meet your highest standards.

Guests of The Farm can test their fly-fishing skills and wet a line for largemouth bass, crappie, or bream in Lake Christine and Lodge Lake. Bring your own gear or rent ours. Fish from the banks, or enjoy the full experience out on the water in an aluminum johnboat with trolling motor. Either way, it’s not a rare occurrence for even the occasional angler to land a six- to eight-pound bass. Our lakes are intensely managed with proper fertilization, feeding, and harvests to maximize fish growth, and you just may have the talent—or the luck—to catch that elusive lunker.
Guided and non-guided experiences available.
