The Story

This tungsten-headed jig version of the Pheasant Tail is tied on a barbless, European-style hook, which makes it an ideal addition to any Czech-nymphing rig. The tungsten will drop the fly to the bottom quickly, and without a barb on the hook, you'll experience a sharp drop-off in the number of snags on the bottom without sacrificing any fish.

Sizes 12, 14, 16, 18.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality euro nymphs I used Orvis euro nymphs on Virginia streams. They are well tied and they catch fish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bottom fly I like to use this fly as a bottom fly tied about 1 foot below a Copper John or Hare's Ear. This gets down to the bottom when I am fishing a nymph rig. Really works great. I don't like to use a bobber or lead weight just the flies one heavy one for the bottom fly and one lighter one tied on to the tag end of double surgeons knot and a long piece of 5x fluorocarbon tippet. I've caught fish the fly has held up really well. I have lost some in the trees and snagged on branches or rocks. Overall a great addition to my fly box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very productive fly I fished the Salmon River with my dad and brother today and handed each of them one of these nymphs and tied one on my one rod as well. In three hours we landed 28 trout. It was a nice mix of rainbows, browns and brookies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snag reducer I fished these bugs last year when a friend of mine gave me a few. I feel they are every bit as effective, if not more, than a conventional tunghead nymph. The big difference here is they don't hang up nearly as much. You lose fewer flies with this style.
