Treats for Dogs
Every dog lover understands the importance of superior quality dog treats—we offer a variety of wholesome delights because we know you’re as picky as we are. We’re proud to purvey dog treats with healthy and all-natural ingredients, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding your best friend.
When to Give Treats to Your Dog
Use treats for positive reinforcement when you’re training your new puppy or dog. Avoid treating a dog in an excited, elevated state, and instead wait until she’s calm and focused to offer the treat. Let her know you have it in your hand, but keep it some distance from her nose. If she jumps on you to go after it, turn away from her. Only after she has executed the command you’ve asked of her and then achieves a state of calm should you offer the treat.
Dog treats or biscuits are also helpful when it’s time for basic maintenance your pal may not especially enjoy—for example, having her nails trimmed, or being bathed. Try luring her into the tub with a favorite treat, and if she knows one awaits her at the end of the bath, she may be a bit more willing to oblige.
But while treats can be powerful motivators for gaining compliance from your dog in many situations, avoid treating her immediately following a meal—she may feel full and thus show less interest in doing your bidding.
Pro Tip: The best treats for senior dogs are low in fat and sodium.
