The Smith River Guiding on the Smith River is 60 miles of river taking five days and four nights. This requires the ability and desire to get up and start working at six in the morning until nine at night. You will be assisting in assembling an upscale outdoor camp every day. This includes putting up tents, cutting firewood, assisting in the cooking, doing the dishes and loading boats. Our first and primary goal is the safety of our customers. Although the season on the Smith is short you will be exposed to snow, rain, wind, high water and low water. We need to make sure our customers are warm, dry and safe while guiding them into trout every day. This is all done with panache, verve and aplomb. The primary asset for a guide isn’t how many fish you catch but having the people skills to communicate technique as well as the joy of fly fishing. Healing Waters Lodge Guiding in Southwest Montana at Healing Waters Lodge. We are again looking for someone with excellent people skills. But, we are also seeking someone with enough boat skills to comfortably guide people on the Madison, Beaverhead, Big Hole and Jefferson Rivers. We can teach someone to guide we can’t teach someone to have integrity, decency and character. Hoopleheads need not apply. If you are on the first name basis with more than six bartenders this might not be the place for you. Qanon followers, Proud Boys and Oath Keepers need not apply. SERVER/HOUSEKEEPER - SPOTTED BEAR RANCH - FLATHEAD NATIONAL FOREST, MONTANA

We are seeking a dynamic team member for the 2019 season to work as a Server and Housekeeper with our team at Spotted Bear Ranch. We pride ourselves on offering the highest levels of lodging, recreation, food, and service to our guests.


Individuals who enjoy working in an intimate environment on a spectacular property are encouraged to apply. This position would last from early June and through late September or early October.


Housekeeping: To provide daily/turnover cleaning services to guest cabins and main lodge facilities. Cabins are expected to be cleaned thoroughly between guest arrivals/departures by providing clean sheets, appropriate bathroom linens and amenities, cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces, and ensuring that the cabin is in working order. Cabins are also to be cleaned daily during the guest’s stay. Housekeeping staff is also responsible for laundry and maintaining the cleanliness of the lodge, trophy room, dining room, restrooms and pro-shop.


Serving: To provide attentive and hospitable meal service to guests for breakfast, cocktail hour, and dinner. Servers are expected to keep the dining room and trophy room orderly, clutter-free, set up before meals, and clean up after meals. Interactions with guests should always be friendly and helpful, and the server should be attentive to guest needs including refilling water glasses and other beverages, promptly removing finished plates, and ensuring that guests are satisfied with their meals.


Uniforms: For cocktail hour and dinner, servers are expected to wear the designated white blouse with “Spotted Bear Ranch” embroidery, black slacks or a skirt, and black, close-toed shoes. Breakfast attire can be a slightly more casual, with any dark colored pants and any tee shirt with “Spotted Bear Ranch” embroidery. All uniform clothes should be in good condition and free of holes or stains. Hair should be pulled back from face.


Server/Housekeepers must be available for shuttles and emergency town runs. Occasional help with maintenance, lawn care, and feeding stock.


Maintain a professional level of appearance and behavior.

WILDERNESS CHEF/COOK - SPOTTED BEAR RANCH - FLATHEAD NATIONAL FOREST, MONTANA

The Wilderness Chef is responsible for providing high quality meals in a wilderness setting. This includes menu planning, food lists/costs, and packing preparation. Fresh baked goods are prepared daily with a dutch oven, and all meals are expected to be fresh, healthy, and exceeding our guests expectations for a horse pack trip.


The Wilderness Chef is responsible for the stocking and inventory of wilderness food items as well as keeping two freezers and one refrigerator in clean working order.


The Wilderness Chef will have back up from the main lodge for prep work, inventory and ordering.


The Wilderness Chef works with the Wilderness Manager on trip planning, preparation, and execution.


The Wilderness Chef also is responsible for setting up camp every day along the South Fork of the Flathead River. This includes working with guides and wranglers to set up all guest tents, kitchen boxes, dinner fly tent, firewood, and any other camp duties required.


The Wilderness Chef is also responsible for the packing and safe navigation of the cargo boat to and from designated campsites. This position requires horseback and technical rafting skills.


Room and board is included. The wilderness crew can expect generous gratuities.


Specific Duties include:


  • Menu planning/preparation for a 6 day wilderness trip.
  • Preparing weekly food lists for produce, bread and other perishable items.
  • Providing all meals for all wilderness guests and staff.
  • Setting up camp before the arrival of guests each day.
  • Safe navigation of the cargo boat down the Southfork of the Flathead River.


General Duties include:


  • Cleaning and maintaining a working kitchen that complies with appropriate Health Codes and Wilderness Regulations.
  • Maintaining a professional level of appearance and behavior.

Montana Angler Fly Fishing is searching for a highly qualified candidate to serve as our director of creative media. Qualified candidates will be well versed in photography, photo editing and managing photo libraries. Experience with video editing and production is also of interest. Experience running social media campaigns would also be a relevant skill set. Candidates must have significant experience with both lightroom and photoshop. We also need a candidate that can assist with sales of multi-day fly fishing trips in Montana and with our international partners. A proficient knowledge of fly fishing is a prerequisite, ideally with some experience in the fly fishing industry. Montana Angler is looking for a new teammate who can grow with us this spring into a responsible key employee this summer. The ideal candidate will have a good mix of both fly fishing AND customer service experience. We need someone with a flexible schedule, who can work 40 hours a week including weekends and some holidays. Strong writing skills are preferred.


Responsibilities include:


  • Working alongside of the retail floor manager to maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere within the shop.
  • Aid in the customers' shopping experience, including gear and fly recommendations, suggesting river locations, and introducing customers to new gear that might help outfit them appropriately on the water.
  • Help with daily upkeep of the shop to maintain a well stocked and clean appearance.
  • Opening and closing procedures including cash and receipt tracking.


Qualifications:


  • Qualified applicants will have a clean and professional appearance and be able to match that with polite and helpful customer interactions.
  • Previous retail or sales experience is preferred.
  • A very strong understanding of all things fly fishing. Local fly fishing knowledge of the Bozeman area is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual that may be new to the Bozeman area.
  • Strong writing skills to help with blog content are strongly preferred. Other desirable skills would include photography, photo editing, and social media management.
  • A college degree is preferable but not required.


Additional Information:


This could be a great opportunity for an aspiring guide, with potential to guide on you days off from the shop. Preference will be given to career-minded individuals. This position can serve as a great stepping stone into the fly fishing industry, or perhaps a forward movement for someone with previous fly shop experience. You will be exposed to more than just the fly shop side of the industry, as our large outfitting office is located in the same building. This position is full time through October, with the opportunity for winter employment for highly qualified individuals with strong writing skills that can help add value to the company outside of the busy fly shop season.
