The Story

Top Polish fly tyer and angler Andrzej Koziel developed this all-star nymph pattern, and it is quickly becoming a favorite on both sides of the pond. Bright hot spots help fish locate the fly in off-color water, and a tungsten bead head ensures the fly quickly drops down to feeding level. Tactical hook is barbless and features a claw point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Spot is Spot On! I've fished the Tactical TH Hot Spot Nymph extensively since they were introduced with great success in a variety of situations. Essentially, its a souped-up pheasant tail that's effective during hatches as well as prospecting. I love the barbless tactical hook as it's dramatically increased my hook-ups, especially on those difficult downstream hook-sets. Like all pheasant tail patterns it's not the most durable fly, but often can be repaired at the vise with an overwrap of brown thread if you change flies before the pheasant fibers unravel. Personally, I'm happy to live with this if it means catching more trout, and with this nymph it does. This fly has become one of my go-to nymphs and takes up more room in my fly box each season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It has been a day-saver! I've had great luck fishing with these in a variety of places and a variety of conditions. They just always seem to catch fish. My only complaint is that they seem to fall apart after catching a fish or two. But they do work, and if I wasn't catching, they wouldn't be falling apart, so I guess it is ok. I will definitely order more, but I may hit the next batch with some head cement to improve the durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Killer trout fly I got this because I thought it looked tasty. Wow, I was right. Took it to a tail waters and was not disappointed. My buddy that I was fishing with finally screamed at me, "how are you catching so many fish." 56 bows and brownies made the trip home very enjoyable......for me.
