Orvis Women’s Product Developer Hannah Perkins, part of the third generation of family ownership, loves to eat roast duck. Her recipe is simple, yet delicious, using just the ducks and a few herbs and vegetables. The key is to not overcook the birds, roasting them to medium-rare at most. Best of all, the leftover carcasses and vegetables can be used to make a duck soup recipe created by Hannah’s grandfather, Leigh Perkins, the legendary businessman and sportsman who bought Orvis in 1965.
