Packing List For Your Next Fly Fishing Trip

We built this general fly fishing packing list to help you prepare for any weather, whether you’re fishing your favorite local spots or traveling abroad. For warm-weather trips, go light. Jackets and wading boots from our Ultralight line keep you covered without weighing you down. A breathable casting shirt with odor control and a sun-protective ball cap make long days in the sun more comfortable. Polarized sunglasses are a must to protect your eyes from the sun and make fish easier to spot. For cold conditions, layers matter. The waterproof and insulated hoodies block wind and wet, while a softshell hoodie offers backup warmth when the weather shifts. Don’t forget the small but essential tools—forceps, nippers, fly boxes—and a waterproof pack to keep it all protected and close at hand. We included Tom Rosenbauer’s favorite trout flies to round out the essentials. If you need a new setup, our fly rods and precision reels are built to perform in all kinds of conditions. Our Trekkage™ tote, carry-on, and roller bags make packing simple and hold up to the wear and tear of travel.
