Join Orvis Adventures on a group shooting trip to Wyoming, our Wingshooting Getaway at French Creek Sportsmen's Club. French Creek is a gem of a property in a collection of premier destinations headlined by Wyoming's Lodge and Spa at Brush Creek Ranch. French Creek is a hunter and angler's dream come true: a dedicated sporting property encompassing 15,000 secluded acres of Wyoming's Platte River Valley. At French Creek Sportsmen's Club, hunting, fishing, and shooting are the primary focus, supported by the finest amenities. The Club property features 20 miles of freestone river access and an expanse of mixed native and agricultural cover teeming with upland birds. Guests enjoy elegant log cabins overlooking French Creek, a private clubhouse and dining room, an in-house chef showcasing local produce, game, and Wagyu beef, and dedicated house and outdoor staff to see to every need. Thursday – Arrival Day
Noon Arrival to French Creek Sportsmen’s Club – After a brief period to get situated in cabins, guests will move straight into Lunch
Noon Lunch – Enjoy a leisurely backyard BBQ in our outdoor Dining Room, taking the opportunity to become acquainted with fellow sportsmen and women
1:30 Following lunch, take part in a Shooting Clinic and receive some instruction with Jon Kruger at the French Creek Gun Range. Jon is one of the most accomplished, celebrated, and beloved clay target shooters in history. Under Jon’s watchful eye, refine your wingshooting technique in anticipation of the hunting sessions to come
4:30 Rest, Relax, Refresh – Take advantage of the solace and beauty of the French Creek property with a walk, a few casts at rising trout, a cigar on the porch, or a snooze in the shade
6:30 Welcome Dinner – Gather in the Covey Dining Room for a feast fit for royalty. Our dedicated Chef de Cuisine is certain to delight with a meal featuring local produce and meat, home-baked goods, and the finest wines available. Relax and share the table with friends old and new and be sure to leave room for dessert!
8:30 Afterglow – Retire to the Clubhouse & Fire Pit for an aperitif, a cigar, a game of billiards, or simply some star gazing and storytelling
Friday – Day Two
8:00 Ranch Breakfast – Our Chef will not let you take to the field on an empty stomach! Gather in the Covey Dining Room for hot coffee, fresh baked goods, fruit, and all the fixings of a hearty ranch breakfast
9:00 Walking Bird Hunt – Join the French Creek team of Guides and Handlers for a walk-up pheasant hunt on the historic Sanger Ranch. Follow pointing dogs and English Cockers through agricultural fields, creek bottoms, and willow thickets in pursuit of hard-flushing birds. The Sanger has cover types, terrain, and topography to meet the needs of any wingshooter
Noon Lunch on the Platte – Return to the club proper for an al fresco lunch in Platte Canyon. Our dining space overlooking the river is as stunning a backdrop as you can imagine. Our Chef will feature a meal inspired by the tastes of Italy, with fresh salads of homegrown greens, and of course a selection of delightful home-baked desserts
1:30 Choice of 10 Station Walking Clay Course or Fly Fishing on The North Platte – Following lunch, take part in either more shooting on the French Creek walking clays course, or pick up a fly rod for some exceptional wade fishing on either French Creek or the storied North Platte. Shooters will be accompanied by a dedicated trapper to enjoy a course that employs numerous presentations highlighting the topography of the property. Fly anglers will enjoy guided fishing for brown trout and rainbows on a variety of private-access water.
4:30 Rest, Relax, Refresh
6:30 High Country Supper – be delighted once again by our cuisine, and enjoy a recap of the day in the Covey Dining Room
8:30 Afterglow in the warmth of the Clubhouse & Fire Pit
Saturday – Day Three

1:30 Personalized Wingshooting Practice– Return to the French Creek Gun Range for additional time on the Sporting Clays Course, Wobble Trap, Helice Ring, or Crazy Quail walk. Alternatively, explore the fishery some more on a walk-wade fly-fishing outing.

6:00 Shuttles to The Farm
6:30 Seed to Table Dinner at the Cheyenne Club – The finest culinary experience in Wyoming, showcasing organic produce and Wagyu beef grown within sight of the dining table. This is an epicurean adventure you will not soon forget!!
8:30 Afterglow in the Farm’s Spirit Vault… a setting and an experience all its own!
Day Four – Sunday Departure
8:00 Ranch Breakfast at the Trailhead Lodge

Meals and dining

Our gourmet culinary experiences are continuously evolving. Drawing inspiration from our rich, Western heritage, each sumptuous meal is crafted by our expert chefs with your dietary needs and preferences in mind. Whether enjoying a meal at The Covey Dining Room or in our outdoor dining room of Millie’s Cabin Residence, ingredients are plucked straight from our ever-expanding greenhouse and reflect the sophistication of our thoughtfully designed Wyoming resort. All meals, along with premium wine and spirits, are included in the price of your stay at the ranch.

Typical weather

Situated in the heart of Wyoming’s famed Platte River Valley, positioned at the headwaters of the North Platte River. The Platte flows through a spectrum of stunning Wyoming landscapes, from steep rocky canyons to flat rolling sagebrush hills, and everything in between. Hunters experience a variety of landscape scenarios including river bottom scrub, sagebrush hillsides, ag/hayfields, and edges. Shooting is generally fairly open.

Gear recommendations

You are always welcome to bring any of your own gear that you would like. However, we outfit all of our guests with premium Orvis and Beretta equipment free of charge. We use only the highest quality ammunition and firearms on our hunts and while at our shooting ranges. We recommend you bring the proper footwear and clothing for a day in the field depending on the time of year of your visit.

We always recommend bringing applicable clothing for our climate, given the time of year of your visit. Our outfitting staff will provide any and all gear you could potentially need for our activities.

What else to bring?

Any favorite gear for the field, fishing tackle, or guns. Otherwise, French Creek can provide all gear for the field experiences.
