Gear Recommendations:
Break open shotguns are required for all walk-up hunts. Typically 7.5 and higher shot will do the job on all species.
What to Bring (Additional):
Bring a good pair of boots and layers of clothes as we can have 30-degree temps in the morning and 70s in the afternoons. Hats and sunscreen.
Season:
Our typical upland season is from late October through late February. But depending on the weather, we may roll into March.
Species:
Quail and chukar partridge are typically hunted, with the odd bonus pheasant harvested on walk-up hunts.
Region/Terrain:
We are located in north-central Texas. With large rolling hills of native grasses, the elevation changed adds to the wildness and vistas of Premier Wingshooting.
Typical Weather:
Typical winter weather is varied; pack for 30-degree temperatures as a low and up to 80 degrees as a high. A good mix of Orvis lite gear with layering will typically suit any wingshooter
