The Story

A soft hackle fly that exhibits great movement. A terrific caddis emerger fly pattern on its own just under the film or as a dropper behind a dry. In purple.

Sizes: 16, 18, 20, 22.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great black caddis emerger I am one of the more technical rivers in the East, with an all-wild trout population. This has become my go to black caddis emerger pattern or when they are sipping something I cannot see. This fly has made me look good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great go to fly I fish the rivers of Alberta in the Crowsnest Pass area and this fly has become my go to fly in size 18 and 20 when the trout are sipping small blue wing olives. It is so easy for a small mayfly imitation to get lost amid hundreds of the real thing that this fly sets itself apart and draws strikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Purple Haze fly Flyfishing the Delaware River, this is a great attractor. I wish it was a bead head, it would be much more effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The fly the Jimi Hendrix invented? ...Purple Haze Very productive fly, first fished this in MT with good success, but found it works equally well in New England trout rivers and streams. Works well as a top fly when nymphing, but also behind a streamer or wet fly. I like the #18 and #16, but wish a #14 was available as an option. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go to fly I use this fly as a dropper behind a dry fly or as my bottem fly on a three rig nymph set up. Not sure exactly why, but trout like this fly. Maybe it looks like an olive emerger or soft hackle. Got a bit chewed up after some big trout but trimmed down and used again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fly!!! Bought 3 in a size 20 at the beginning of the season, caught a few stocked trout and turned many more over. Just received 3 more and caught a 16" brown. Really is an amazing fly that looks buggy in the water. I swing them down and across.
