The Story

We are a fly fishing guide service in East Tennessee specializing in trout and smallmouth bass located in the small city of Maryville, between Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Fly Fishing is our passion and we enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience with others in order to make it their passion as well. We specialize in fly fishing, but will alter your trip to your liking. We practice catch and release so that others may enjoy the same experience. Whether you are a first time fly fisher or you are a seasoned veteran, you are always welcome with us.

Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

All gear is provided to customers at no additional costs.

What Should Customers Bring?

Bring any personal gear that is desired, but always bring comfortable rain gear, dress proper for the occasion and always have protective eyewear.

Date Range:

Fishing is open year around with no season set. With lots of options to choose from there's always water to catch trout or smallmouth around our area.

Species You Fish for by Season:

Spring is best for trout (dry flies) and some early pre-spawn smallmouth bass action. (subsurface)

Summer is best for smallmouth bass. (topwater)

Fall is best for trout (nymphs and streamers) and late smallmouth bass. (subsurface)

Winter is best for trout. ( nymphs and streamers)

Region/Terrain where you fish:

East and Middle TN

Great Smoky Mountains National Park - Freestone streams with steep grades littered with large granite boulders. These trips are all wade fishing as streams are shallow and narrow with miles of pocket water loaded with wild trout which is easily accessible throughout the entire park.

Holston River, Clinch River and Caney Fork River - Cold clear tailwaters with heavy populations of Rainbow and Brown Trout with quality hatches offering great dry fly fishing at times and scenery to match. These trips are offered as float trips out of drift boats and rafts.

French Broad River, Holston River, Pigeon River, and Little River - These are some of the best Smallmouth Bass rivers in the country and just 30 minutes to 1 hour from our front door. With the exception of the little river most of our Smallmouth rivers are tailwaters which allows us to have a longer season to fish for them with very clear/shallow water with consistent water temps making the perfect combo for topwater action.

Typical Weather by Season:

(Dec - March) - Cold mornings with moderate afternoons and mostly dry.

(April - May) - Cool mornings with very comfortable afternoons and occasional rain showers.

(June - August) - Comfortable mornings with warm afternoons and possibility of pop up thunderstorm.

(September - November) - Cool to comfortable mornings with very comfortable afternoons and mostly dry.
