The Story

Jamie Rouse, the 2007 Orvis-Endorsed Guide of the Year, developed his J-Dub Sow Bug while guiding on Arkansas' famed White and Little Red Rivers. Present in most tailwaters or slow-moving clear streams, sow bugs can constitute a large portion of a trout's diet, and typically live in streambed gravel. Sow bugs can be deadly when fished as a fly, and the J-Dub Sow Bug is one of the best patterns we've found.

Sizes 14, 16.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sow bug Does not look like the picture on site is made out of the country, it is hard to believe that jamie had this in mind when he developed this fly, used on little red with no results. caught alot of fish this day but none on this fly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Nice bug, would be nice in smaller sizes down to 20. However,,,, if you want a cress bug that works,, use a Ed shenks cress bug!! I only fish spring creeks so ya, It didn't work, but maybe it will in a tailwater...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rouse's J-Dub Sow Bug A few years ago I caught my largest Brown, a 23 1/2 incher with Jamie at the helm and one of his sow bugs on the end of my tippet. Turn over a branch in the Little Red and see what the trout are feasting it alive, or is it one of Jamie Rouse's sow bugs? Thanks for a great experience, Jamie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sow Bug Ever I have fished the tail waters of Arkansas my whole life and this is by far the best, most realistic sowbug that I have ever seen or used. I'll never use any other sowbug pattern.
