The Story

Southeastern Anglers is among the oldest, most well-established fly-fishing outfitter and guide services in the southeastern US. Our team of mature guides have a lifetime of experience on the best fly-fishing waters the Southeast has to offer. We offer drift boat and jet boat trips on the Southeast's finest tailwaters for rainbow and brown trout as well as smallmouth bass and some other species. Located within thousands of acres of National Forest with large rivers, lakes, and streams near and available. We are a short drive from most major metropolitan hubs in the Southeast. Some of our rivers currently being serviced are the Hiwassee, Clinch, Holston, Toccoa, French Broad, Tellico, and Cumberland Rivers, as well as some high mountain reservoirs.

Southeastern Anglers was founded in 1999 as we pioneered drift boat fly fishing on these great southeastern tailwaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Fishing! Excellent Food! Wonderful People! I fished with Michael "Tic" Smith of Southeastern Anglers, and it was a fantastic trip on the Hiwassee. The fishing was incredible, we caught 30-50 Rainbow trout every day, and the scenery of east Tennessee was perfect. Tic is an incredibly knowledgeable guide and his passion for the sport and this fishery could not be more evident. He was always willing to teach and his patience in helping me as a novice fly fisherman was endless. I cannot imagine a better guide for trout fishing in eastern Tennessee. With Southeastern Anglers, the trip was well planned, all questions were answered, and communication was perfect. They took care of every detail and provided everything needed to make the trip fantastic. Last, while I would have been perfectly happy with a ham sandwich, Southeastern Anglers takes it to the next level. They smoked BBQ pork for the trip, they made Chicken Salad, made sides and desserts. The food was top notch and beyond what we expected!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Trip I have gone on trips before with them and am never disappointed. Mark Scarborough led myself and a friend on a trip today down the Holsun River and we had a blast. We are kind of new to this sport but Mark had us on fish right away and all day.BIG FISH, and strong.Lunch was a pleasure with Mark going over local area History and then it was back to catching fish. I highly recommend this group and their guides. Dane Law is a Pro at customer satisfaction as is all the guides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic Days on the Cumberland I've been fortunate to fish with many guides from a variety of outfitters across this great country and none are any better than Bill Stranahan and Mark Scarborough with Southeastern Anglers. Whether it be on their home waters on the Hiwassee or other locations like the Cumberland, they know their stuff and will put you on fish. I recently had the chance to fish with both Mark and Bill on the Cumberland for 2 days. We used a variety of tactics (streamers, nymphs, dries, and even hoppers) and chased and landed more quality fish than I could remember. And had a great time and many laughs with both guys along the way. Regardless of your level of experience, do yourself a favor and book a trip with The Boys from Southeastern Anglers. You will not regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiawassee Drift Boat Trip My hunting buddy and I had a great afternoon with Mark Scarborough of Southeastern Anglers on the Hiawassee River. Mark is an excellent guide and was very patient with two novice trout/fly fishermen. We will plan another trip in the near future, possibly the Toccoa River as it is close to my mountain cabin. We will need several trips to get us up to speed with this style fishing. It is both exciting and challenging! Mark took a great deal of time to explain the drift boat handling and use that was very important to me as I am in the beginning process of building a McKenzie drift boat. Mark’s many years of experience with white water was very evident with the ease he handled the boat to position us for optimal fishing opportunities. Dane Law, owner of Southeastern took to time to inquire what type experience we wanted on the river and Mark delivered. This attention to personalized service was very much appreciated. The experience was well worth the fair coat. With the current hatches supporting dry fly fishing now is a great time to book a trip. We will be back soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiwassee Driftboat Trip June 2nd was my first trip down the Hiwassee River with Guide Bill Stranahan, He is an exceptional oarsman and driftboater. Capable and Safe. I've been oaring driftboats on other rivers for over 20 years, he exceeded my skill level. Bill was also a wonderful fishing guide, he know his river and is ever the soft tone teacher. I appreciated his help. Drys, strike indicators and streamers - we caught fish on all. Shore lunch was fantastic, the only thing missing was the hammock for the nap after. Beautiful river. Great fishing. I'm coming back with friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cast to Rising Trout in the South Outstanding day. My son, Trace, & I were guided by Bill Stranahan with Southeastern Anglers. Morning was abit slow. Bill worked hard to put us on fish and changing patterns. Ahhh, lunchtime...grilled tenderloin with all the fix'ins! He had a plan after lunch. Can't repeat it:0). He put us in the middle of rising fish from about 3-7! We watched one 16"er come up slowly and inhale Trace's dry fly. So much fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professionals. You will not regret booking a trip with SE Anglers. They are one of the best guide services I have encountered. I have traveled all over the United States, fishing with great guides, and SE Anglers are right up at the top if the pack. They treat you like family and their logo is in the Dictionary next to Southern Hospitality. They definitely under sell their program, the fishing is a blast! The Hiawassee has big fish, don't let people tell you otherwise.
