Arrival & Welcome:
2:00 PM or later – Arrive at Prairie Wildlife on the afternoon before the school is to start and enjoy a round at the five-stand or fish in our beautiful horseshoe lake, right off the back porch of the Lodge.
6:00 PM – Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails in the great room of the Lodge or at the Pavilion on Kathy's Hill.
7:00 PM – Dinner prepared by Chef Dave consisting of a fresh salad, a five-star entrée, and a delicious dessert.
8:00 PM – Relax with a fresh beverage of your choice in front of a cozy fireplace or outside by the firepit for the rest of the evening.
Day One:
8:00 AM – Breakfast
9:15 AM – Introduction of instructors and discussion of the agenda for the day. At this point we will also have student evaluation, talk about skill levels, and outline more specifically what you hope to gain from this class.
10:00 AM – Student and instructor will go out to area where shooting instruction will begin. Students will learn the techniques of the instinctive method of shooting while breaking flying clays to simulate birds.
12:00 PM – Lunch at the Lodge
1:00 PM – Resume instruction on shooting ground with targets that fly more birdlike. As we walk up to approach a point, we will explore the safety aspect of going to the alert position. Breaks will be as needed, so we can review each situation as we go.
4:00 PM – First day instruction ends. Free time to fish or enjoy the scenery.
6:00 PM – Cocktails
7:00 PM – Dinner at the Lodge
Day Two:
8:00 AM – Breakfast
9:00 AM – Review and recap of day one
10:00 AM – Depart to the exquisite native grass fields of the Black Prairie for a reasonably paced walk-up of bobwhite quail.
12:00 PM – Lunch
2:00 PM – Return to an additional field for two more walk-ups.
4:00 PM – Certification and pictures
