The Story

Expand your fly-fishing repertoire exponentially with Dynamic Nymphing, an in-depth catalog of the latest nymphing techniques by acclaimed angler George Daniel. In the book, Daniel covers advanced tight-line nymphing tactics—including Czech, Polish, French, Spanish, and American techniques—and how to rig dry/dropper configurations. Along with 62 nymph fly patterns, Daniel details how to fish in extreme conditions as well as casting techniques that include the tuck cast, bow-and-arrow cast, and how to elevate and lead flies while tight-line nymphing.

George Daniel is the assistant manager of TCO Fly Shop in State College, Pennsylvania, and has competed and placed in various fly-fishing competitions around the world.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good resource Often heard of European nymphing and wanted more info. Good resource, many photos and illustrations. Most patterns listed were not familiar to me. Seemed more geared to east coast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Tightline Nymphers Bible Anybody who fly fishes can benefit from this book. I have read this book cover to cover several times, and still pull it off the shelf to re-read various sections. You could offer a complete college class devoted to nothing but the contents of this offering. Well done George.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Book A great, in-depth book with thorough explanations on leader construction, types of leaders, flies, strategy, and tactics. Some Books tend to be more "story" oriented - this book is not that way and is a great guide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent book Plain and simple, this is an excellent book. Concise, to the point and well written. It has changed my nymphing game completely. I usually don't refute other reviewers, but I disagree with the prior review regarding stillwater nymphing. Yes, this is directed to stream nymphing which seems reasonable as this likely covers 95% of anglers who nymph. I also think that it is a gross exaggeration to label this as a romantic account of the authors travels. Anyone who has fished in varied locations knows how water can change dramatically - streams from PA, to CO to Europe all have vastly different topography thus necessitating different approaches. Hence... Dynamic Nymphing - a simple, straightforward strategy to not only catching more fish but also gaining a better understanding of how and why we do what we do. This book is fantastic, read it and you won't be sorry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Streams only... As usual to Orvis, treatment of nymphing in this book is limited to the challenges of moving water (streams). For those of us who fish nymphs in Stillwater, this book must be either properly interpreted or avoided altogether. The author is more interested in talking about his world travels than about general nymphing techniques. Thus the value of this book is questionable to those who are not interested in the romance of the traveler.
