Flies are provided for your day on the water. We hand-tie our own flies for the rivers and region we fish.
Full-day trips include lunch.
We highly recommend that you bring your favorite rod for the species we're targeting, however we have plenty of gear for your use. Bring waders and the necessary layers to get you through the day. We have access to rental waders if needed.
Also available is a combination week with time at both Cinco Rios Lodge and Estancia Del Zorro. Please inquire with Orvis Adventures about these special packages.

Gear Recommendations:
We target many different species of fish throughout the year. We use 1-4 wt rods for small inland streams, 5-7 wt for the large rivers, 7-10 wt for Salmon, steelhead, musky, pike and bass. Spey and switch rods on the Cattaraugus and Niagara Rivers if you like to swing flies or "speydicator" fish.
Species:
Fly Fishing Western New York and North Western Pennsylvania is possible year-round for a wide variety of species. There are peak times for all and with our Great Lakes region a wide diversity of cold and warm water possibilities.
January-March: Steelhead, brown, rainbow, and brook trout.
April: Steelhead, brown, rainbow, brook trout, musky, and pike.
May-September: Brown, rainbow, brook trout, musky, pike, carp, and smallmouth bass.
September: Brown, rainbow, brook trout, musky, pike, carp, smallmouth bass, steelhead, and salmon.
October-November: Brown, rainbow, brook trout, musky, pike, steelhead, salmon, lake trout, and lake-run brown trout.
December: Brown, rainbow, brook trout, steelhead, and salmon.
Season:
Year-round fishing opportunities for a wide variety of inland and lake run, cold and warm water species.
Region/Terrain:
Licensed in Pennsylvania as well as New York we fish inland rivers as big as the Lower Niagara to small native brook trout streams. Steelhead in the Zoar Valley Gorge of Cattaraugus Creek including float trips on the Allegheny and Clarion River for trout and Upper Allegheny River, and its tributaries, for musky, pike, smallmouth bass and carp. There are many options for the wade angler, as well as float trips.
Typical Weather:
Spring: A mix of cool and wet weather brings on the spring hatches and big browns come out to play.
Summer: Warm and humid. Excellent for terrestrial fishing, chucking large streamers for musky and dry-fly prospecting for native brookies.
Fall: Cool to cold. A great time of year to catch our lake-run fish of Erie and Ontario.
Winter: Cold and snowy. Steelhead and trout are the target species during the winter months.
