The Story

Tungsten is heavy and tungsten bead heads are the best way short of loading your leader with split shot to get fishing flies down to where the fish are feeding. This is an excellent pattern for searching the lower part of the column and combined with a lighter nymph above or in tandem with a lighter nymph and a dry you can cover the entire water column with ease. Emerger fishing flies in BWO, PMD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Irresistible I used this as a dropper off of a Caddis larva during a Caddis and BWO hatch. The fish found this fly irresistible! I couldn’t keep them off it! My only advice is by more than two...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent contact nymph I use this fly as an anchor fly in a tandem nymph rig when Euro Nymphing. The tungsten bead gets it down quickly in pocket water and it is an excellent prospecting fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Baetis Emerger Pattern I've Found Yet I've been using this pattern for several years and hands down its the best baetis emerger pattern I've found yet. I often tie the pattern myself, but when I don't have time I just buy it from Orvis and the results are the same. The design includes the most important feature of the natural so well that it even works on selective tailwater trout in shallow clear water. The only improvement I would suggest is to use 3X-wide, 3X-heavy hooks on the size 20's to help me land the 20"+ fish that gobble them up. Need I say more?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should be a killer I am happy with the look of these Flies. Rated an 8 only because I did not use them yet but the construction looks good. I can't wait to hit the water and feel the tug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great spring creek pattern I have fished this pattern on spring creeks in the Midwest and have found it productive. A wonderful caddis bwo impression. It works in riffles and as a dropper fly on a tandem rig. Try it next time when you want a little excitement on the end of your leader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big fish love the Auto Emerger. Whether guiding or fishing on my own, the Auto Emerger is my go to mayfly nymph. From technical tailwaters to freestone Cutthroat streams, this fly produces. The tungsten version gets down to the fish quickly. This fly caught more big fish for me this season, than any other fly, including this 25" Brown.
