Sierra Brava

Shoot on more than 160,000 prime acres in northern Cordoba

Sierra Brava

Sierra Brava is one of the best hunting operations a dove hunter can experience in the whole world. This legendary lodge offers superb high-volume dove hunting in northern Cordoba, very near Macha (and its nearby world-famous Macha Dove Roost). Sierra Brava is, without any doubt, the "best bang-for-the-buck” dove hunting lodge in the word: nowhere else will you find such high-volume dove shooting action, amazing camaraderie, friendly atmosphere, cozy accommodations and world-class meals as here. In other words, it is the only dove hunting outfitter in Cordoba combining extreme high-volume first-class dove shooting action, superb service, first-class accommodation and food at such an unbeatable price.

Sierra Brava has access to the best fields in Cordoba due to the personal relationships of its owners with local farmers and landowners. The lodge is strategically located only 15 minutes away from the heart of Argentina’s most desirable dove hunting area: the Macha Dove Roost. This allows for short drives and access to fields where dove shooting world-records are set. In 2014, Mr. Randy Martin (from Texas) broke the world-record at Sierra Brava with over 12,000 birds shot in one day. Year after year, the most demanding dove shooters in the planet go to Sierra Brava to try to set the new world record, or simply have their names included in the legendary Sierra Brava Club Boards.

The Hunting

Sierra Brava clients shoot on more than 160,000 prime acres in northern Cordoba, including many of the best flatland fields. It offers a wide variety for those wanting to make it on any of the Sierra Brava Clubs (1000, 3000, 8000, 10,000, etc.) or for those enjoying to shoot extremely challenging high birds (British-style shooting), low-flying birds, etc.

Sierra Brava has shooting both inside its property and within a 20-30 minute drive to the nearby hills. However, from April to June, one can expect to travel 1 hour or more to get to the flatland temporary roosts, where the crops are being harvested and where the doves are plentiful. For Pigeon shooting, travel time is usually an hour or more from the lodge, and lunch will always be in the field or at a local restaurant. Pigeon shooting will usually be a half-day activity, but can be repeated once or twice during your stay. It usually requires arranging in advanced, and has a separate price.

The quality of the shooting encountered at Sierra Brava is well based on the superb and experienced team of guides, bird boys and field scouters. They also have a good and up-to-date selection of Beretta and Benelli guns for rent, a clear sign of a well-run operation.

If you want to shoot tons of low and slow birds, that is not a problem at Sierra Brava. If you enjoy English-style tall birds, they can arrange it. The ever-changing landscapes provide the shooters with magical diversity and a different view each day.

Overall, Sierra Brava is acknowledged for its world-class dove shooting fields and this is clearly reflected on why this particular lodge – above any other – is the world-favorite for those seeking to break the world-record and why it remains indisputably unchallenged.

This Estancia dates back to 1874 and was an old Posta – the Argentine equivalent of the Pony Express. It has 7 rooms: 4 in the main house, 2 in the pool house and 1 extra 3-bed room near the owners’ premises. The rooms are very spacious and each has its own private bathroom. A beautiful outdoor swimming pool was built in the garden with an amazing view of the distant hills (called sierras, in Spanish).

The sauna, the new massage room, and the neat and tidy gardens with a private lake, all make this property a great place. The lodge is very comfortable and has the best fire pit in Cordoba due to its comfort, size and above all, the breathtaking view with the most amazing sunsets in the industry.

Overall, the lodge is not as refined and luxurious as other lodges in Cordoba, but truly offers a one-of-a-kind dove shooting experience and service, probably second to none. Attention to detail and perfect execution is all managed in a very professional way at Sierra Brava, which truly is “Home Away From Home” to its guests.

If you would like to take home a DVD with the film and photos from your visit, a professional photographer or video expert is available (DVDs are at an additional cost). Massages are also available upon request in advanced, and at an additional price.

Finally, for the non-shooters, Zeke or Topo can arrange custom-made historical tours (Jesuit Missions and UNESCO World Heritage sites located 45 minutes away from the lodge), shopping trips or cultural outings in Cordoba city, and magical golf rounds in the breathtaking Ascochinga Golf Club (all these activities are at an additional cost and must be requested in advanced).

Transfer to/from Cordoba’s International Airport and the lodge, plus all transfers to the shooting fields are included in the price.
