The Story

What sets my operation apart is a lifetime of local experience and an unmatched connection to these waters. I grew up fishing the North Fork of Long Island and have spent decades exploring every inch of the East End—from Riverhead to Montauk. This isn’t just where I work; it’s where I learned to fish, where I honed my skills, and where I still find something new every season.

Our local fishery is unlike any other, offering season-long opportunities to target striped bass, bluefish, and false albacore. I specialize in light tackle and fly fishing, with a particular focus on the thrill of sight casting to striped bass in just a few feet of crystal clear water. It’s an unforgettable experience.

As a USCG Master Captain, I bring professionalism and safety to every trip. What truly differentiates my charters is the level of personal care and deep knowledge I bring to each outing. I don’t follow the crowd, I follow the fish, drawing on years of experience and local insight to give my clients the best possible shot at success.

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the sport, fishing the flats, bays, and nearshore waters of the East End with someone who knows them inside and out makes all the difference.

  • Striped bass, bluefish & false albacore
  • Fished the famed East End of Long Island
  • Grew up casting lines right here on the North Fork of Long Island
  • Rates start at $550 for a half-day charter
  • Fishing season runs May through the middle of November

Fish the Fork provides all the gear you will need for a great day on the water. We use top-of-the-line boats and equipment to ensure both comfort and performance, no matter the conditions.

For shallow water fishing, I run an East Cape Vantage flats skiff. It’s ideal for crossing big bays but still let us get into just a foot of water—perfect for targeting cruising striped bass and bluefish on the flats.

For fishing the rips, chasing blitzes, and running through heavier seas, I use a SeaVee 26B. Its deep-V hull delivers a soft, dry ride, even in rougher conditions. The open, uncluttered cockpit is fly-fishing-friendly, giving you plenty of room to cast and move freely.

Gear Provided

  • Star spinning rods with Penn fishing reels
  • Orvis fly rod & reels
  • Leaders, lures & flies

You are more than welcome to bring your own equipment. I suggest:

  • A medium light–action rod with a reel with a good drag system
  • 8- or 9-weight fly rod with either a floating or intermediate fly line for flats fishing
  • For the fall run, you can bring either 8- or 9-wt. fly rod with either intermediate or sinking fly line

What To Bring

  • Most important: High-quality polarized sunglasses
  • Sunscreen, hat, and sun protective clothing
  • Non-marking shoes

Meeting locations are dependent upon weather conditions, seasons and where/what we’ll be fishing. Plenty of parking available at all locations. Pickups are also available from LIRR, Hampton Jitney, Orient Ferry, Shelter Island Ferry, Airport, or other locations for an additional charge.

A cooler filled with ice and bottled waters will be provided. Boxed lunch from one of our local restaurants can be arranged for an additional fee and with advance notice.

Cancellations due to weather are at the captain's discretion. Cloudy or rainy days are not considered reasons for cancellation. Many of my best days have been in rainy or overcast conditions. Charters canceled within 10 days of the trip will be charged 50% of the trip cost.

The East End of Long Island offers one of the most diverse and productive fisheries on the Northeast Coast. With a mix of bays, flats, inlets, and nearshore ocean access, this region provides endless opportunities to target species like striped bass, bluefish, and false albacore on both fly and light tackle.

What makes the East End so special is the variety of water conditions packed into a relatively small area. You can sight cast to striped bass on crystal-clear sand flats in the morning, and fish deep rips or chase surface blitzes by the afternoon. The cool, clean water helps sustain strong fish activity throughout the entire season. This part of Long Island is also uniquely protected—many areas are shielded from heavy ocean swells, making for calm, fishable conditions more often than not. It’s ideal for seasoned anglers and newcomers alike.

Whether you’re poling the shallows or running between the forks chasing bait balls, the East End delivers a fishing experience that’s as rewarding as it is scenic. It’s a place that draws you in—and keeps you coming back.
