The Story

La Alondra’i Lodge offers a distinctive Golden Dorado experience built around the Iberá Wetlands, Argentina’s most remarkable natural environment. Based in the historic town of Concepción del Yaguareté Corá, the lodge connects guests with the culture, wildlife, landscapes, and waters that make this region so special.

A key part of the program is spending nights at remote camps inside the wetlands. These camps are not an add-on — they are central to the experience, allowing guests to stay closer to the water, enjoy longer days in Iberá, and experience the marsh from the inside.

Fishing remains at the heart of the trip, with Golden Dorado — known for explosive strikes — as the main target. Anglers fish crystal clear channels and lagoons, mostly from skiffs, with experienced local guides who understand the rhythm of this unique environment.

Beyond the fishing, Iberá offers a powerful sense of place. Guests may encounter remarkable birdlife, capybaras, marsh deer, caimans, and the quiet beauty of one of South America’s great wetland systems. La Alondra’i is designed for travelers who want a deeper connection to the destination — with strong fishing, thoughtful service, and a lodge experience shaped by the character of Iberá.

La Alondra’i Lodge is set in a beautifully restored house from Argentina’s colonial era in Concepción del Yaguareté Corá, on the edge of the Iberá Wetlands. The main lodge has been thoughtfully renovated into an intimate and welcoming lodge experience, with comfortable rooms, inviting common areas, and the warm hospitality only Argentine culture can offer.

The lodge accommodates up to 8 anglers in rooms with private bathrooms. Rooms are based on double occupancy, with single rooms available at an additional cost depending on availability. Meals are an important part of the stay, with Argentine culture reflected through regional cuisine, traditional flavors, and a strong wine experience that adds depth to the evenings at the lodge.

A defining part of the La Alondra’i program is spending nights at one of three stable remote camps located inside the Iberá Reserve. These camps are built into the experience, allowing guests to stay closer to the water and enjoy the wetlands without giving up comfort. Designed around the character of the marsh, they offer functional bathrooms, thoughtful camp amenities, attentive service, and a style that feels connected to the surrounding landscape.

Together, the main lodge and camps create a complete accommodation experience: refined, local, comfortable, and deeply connected to Iberá.

The experience is built around a smooth combination of lodge comfort and full immersion inside Iberá. Guests typically arrive through Corrientes City, the main commercial airport for the program, followed by a 2.5-hour ground transfer to Concepción del Yaguareté Corá. Private flights may also be arranged at an additional cost, offering the chance to fly over the wetlands — a unique experience in itself.

Arrival and departure nights are usually spent at the main lodge, while the core of the trip takes place at the remote camps inside the wetlands. This flow allows guests to settle in comfortably, then spend the most valuable part of the week closer to the water, wildlife, and landscapes that define Iberá.

As with all exclusive Set Fly Fishing lodges, fly fishing equipment can be provided at no additional cost, including the appropriate rods, reels, lines, and flies for Golden Dorado fishing. Due to the region’s warm tropical climate, waders and wading boots are not required.

Beyond fishing, guests may enjoy activities connected to the local culture and the natural setting of Iberá. Depending on the itinerary and conditions, these may include wildlife viewing, birdwatching, cultural visits in Concepción, horseback riding, and one of the region’s most memorable traditions: swimming with horses in the wetlands.

La Alondra’i is connected to the Iberá Wetlands, one of the largest freshwater wetland systems in South America and one of Argentina’s most important natural reserves. Its vast network of crystal-clear channels, lagoons, floating vegetation, and open water creates a pristine environment where fishing, wildlife, and landscape are all part of the same experience.

Anglers fish this protected wetland system by skiff, moving through small channels and lagoons to reach edges, openings, and natural ambush points where Golden Dorado hunt. SET Fly Fishing is the only outfitter operating these waters during the season, which runs from October through May, with just four boats fishing the immense estero. The clean water and subtle structure make the fishing highly visual, while the quiet rhythm and exclusivity of the marsh give each day a strong sense of place.

Beyond the fishing, Iberá is home to extraordinary birdlife, capybaras, caimans, marsh deer, and many other species that are part of the daily scenery. It is a place where water, wildlife, and remoteness work together, giving guests the chance to experience one of South America’s great wild landscapes from within.

The weekly rate at La Alondra’i is USD 7,850 per person based on double occupancy.

The program includes accommodations, all meals and beverages, open bar, guided fishing, fishing equipment, fishing licenses, and access to the Iberá Reserve. The same rate applies to anglers and to guests who choose to enjoy cultural or nature-based activities instead of fishing.

Additional charges may apply for single rooms, single anglers, or private charter flights.
