Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing Outfitters
Natales Fly Fishing is an Orvis-Endorsed Outfitter based in Puerto Natales, specializing in guided trout and salmon fishing experiences throughout southern Chilean Patagonia. From the rivers and lakes surrounding Torres del Paine National Park to remote spring creeks and private estancias, Natales Fly Fishing provides access to some of the most diverse and lightly pressured waters in the region.
Fishing programs range from fully guided day trips to multi-day experiences based at Hotel Kawi and the signature Río Penitente Ranch Program. Depending on the season and conditions, anglers may fish freestone rivers, technical spring creeks, remote lakes, and private ranch waters for wild brown trout, brook trout, sea-run brown trout, and salmon.
What makes the operation unique is the diversity of waters fished and the range of experiences offered within a single destination. Every fishing day is carefully tailored to conditions and guest preferences, allowing anglers to experience the best opportunities available throughout the region.
At Natales Fly Fishing, the focus is on authentic Patagonia fly fishing experiences built around professional guiding, private access, and a deep connection to the waters and landscapes of southern Chile.
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Guests can choose between two distinct accommodation styles, depending on the type of experience they are seeking.
Our Puerto Natales programs are based at Hotel Kawi, a comfortable boutique-style hotel offering double or twin rooms with private bathrooms, daily breakfast, and a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of town. Guests also have access to an open kitchen, allowing the flexibility to prepare their own meals or explore the excellent restaurants and culinary scene Puerto Natales has become known for. Hotel Kawi serves as an ideal base for anglers looking to explore the region’s diverse fisheries while also experiencing Torres del Paine National Park and the surrounding Patagonia attractions.
For anglers seeking a more immersive Patagonia experience, our Río Penitente Ranch Program is based at historic Estancia Río Penitente. This all-inclusive program combines comfortable ranch accommodations with chef-prepared meals, traditional Patagonian lamb barbecues, and private access to some of the region’s most unique fisheries. The estancia offers a quiet, authentic atmosphere surrounded by the open landscapes of southern Patagonia.
Natales Fly Fishing offers private guided day trips and multi-day programs based in Puerto Natales and at Río Penitente Ranch. Depending on the season and water conditions, anglers fish rivers, spring creeks, lakes, and private estancia waters for brown trout, sea-run brown trout, brook trout, and salmon.
Most programs focus on wade fishing, although lake fishing by boat and Spey fishing on larger rivers are also available on select waters, including the Río Serrano system. Cataraft trips are limited to two anglers per day and are always weather permitting.
Programs typically include:
We provide rods, reels, leaders, tippet, flies, waders, and wading boots if needed. Patagonia is known for rapidly changing weather and strong winds, making flexibility essential for successful fishing in the region.
Our operation covers a diverse range of waters around Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine National Park, including large and medium-sized rivers, spring creeks, lakes, lagoons, and glacial-fed systems across the Magellanic steppe. Anglers target resident brown trout, sea-run brown trout, brook trout, and seasonal Chinook salmon in environments ranging from open pampas and private ranch waters to mountain valleys and native forest landscapes. With access to more than 10 private ranches throughout the region, we offer a varied fly fishing experience with low fishing pressure and exceptional Patagonian scenery.
The fishing season runs October 16–April 15. Temperatures typically range from 8° C to 18° C (46ºF to 64ºF), with wind a constant factor throughout the season. Conditions can change quickly, especially in exposed steppe fisheries, so layered clothing and quality rain gear are strongly recommended. A fast-action 6-weight rod is the most versatile setup for local conditions and handles the region’s persistent wind well.
All rates are in U.S. dollars (USD).

A fast-action 5-weight and 6-weight single-hand rod will cover most trout fishing conditions in the region. Larger setups and spey rods are recommended only for select Chinook salmon fisheries.
Patagonian weather changes quickly, and wind is a constant factor throughout the season. Layered clothing, quality rain gear, warm outer layers, gloves, and polarized sunglasses are strongly recommended.
Depending on the season and water conditions, anglers may target resident brown trout, sea-run brown trout, brook trout, and seasonal Chinook salmon.
Due to travel time from the airport, fishing usually does not take place on arrival day, but it may be possible depending on arrival time and conditions.
