The Story

One of the gold standard attracters, the Humpy is a big buoyant trout fly that will float well in the toughest water conditions. These flies work well in big fast water where big trout are instinctively reacting as opposed to inspecting something "big and buggy" going by. The big body of these Humpy flies and extensive hackle keep it high and visible and also make it a great tow boat for a dropper or two. Color: Yellow.

Sizes: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best brookie fly ever! This is my go to fly for small brooks and mountain streams. Brook trout love the Yellow Humpy, and you’ll catch loads of fish on this pattern. It’s also a useful attractor pattern on larger waters and bigger fish. They Yellow Humpy floats like a champ, so can be used as an indicator fly on a dry-dropper rig. Orvis was super easy to deal with and these flies arrived in time for my next adventure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Catches fish, Looks Odd Always keep a few in your box. It is not a mayfly, not a hopper but I think it confuses the fish and they often take it. The Humpy is a good option when nothing is biting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Productive Fly These flies are very productive and tuff. I have had the opertunity to try them in various locations in our area, and they have worked really well on perch, bass, and trout. The larger sizes have drawn very aggressive strikes. They are very important fly for your box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Floating Dry The Orvis Humpys (or is it Humpies?) truly are " high floating". I use they for my dry on my dry-dropper rigs more often than not. They float high and are easy to see even in relatively rough water.
