The Pyrenees are one of the wildest landscapes in Western Europe for wild trout. Ivan Tarin and his team of guides at Salvelinus have spent over 30 years scouting the best rivers, streams, spring creeks, tail waters, reservoirs and alpine lakes.
Spain is in ideal destination with a diverse range of activities well-suited for couples, families and small groups. The Salvelinus team specializes in providing exceptional hospitality and authentic experiences to immerse you in the history and culture of the region.
"I admit it: I traveled to the Spanish Pyrenees as a skeptic. But my week with Ivan Tarin and Salvelinus Fishing Adventures opened my eyes to the incredible fishery to be found in the heart of the Old World. We fished all kinds of water - from high mountain streams to low-country rivers to lakes - in some of the most beautiful settings imaginable. The opportunity to catch "striped" brown trout in their native streams was especially exciting for this wild-trout nut. Everything about the trip, including the quality of the guides, exceeded my expectations!"
- Phil Monahan, former Editor of American Angler

Verdant green valleys, high altitude wildflower meadows, ancient villages and the majestic Pyrenees mountains provide a spectacular backdrop to great trout fishing in Northern Spain. The Pyrenees is a great destination for trout fishing if you know where and when to go. Salvelinus guides are well-known for their hard work and knowledge. Ivan Tarin has built a knowledgeable team of expert fly-fishing guides over the last 19 years covering more than 1500 miles.
The wide varieties of water see little pressure and are home to trout ranging from 10-18 inches on average. The alpine lakes and streams, productive tail waters and pristine freestone rivers hold brown trout, rainbows, brookies and native Mediterranean "zebra" trout.
Salvelinus specializes in guiding anglers of all skill levels. Depending on the season, weather and water conditions, the guides will tailor your experience to your interests. Choose from dry fly fishing for lively brown trout and brookies, or stalking large rainbows and native zebra trout using streamers and nymphs.
Salvelinus specializes in organizing trips to Spain that highlight the culture, history and cuisine of the Spanish Pyrenees. Their team of travel experts is adept at organizing activities from wine tours, to easy-going hiking in national parks, to cultural and historic visits. Whichever itinerary you choose, their guides are committed to providing you with an exceptional experience from beginning to end.

Santa Cilia Fishing Lodge, La Jacetania
This 15th-century villa is ideally located on the banks of the Aragon River in the quaint village of Santa Cilia. The lodge consists of five well-appointed country-style bedrooms that offer the perfect respite at the end of a long day of fishing or exploring. Each bedroom has been updated while maintaining its rustic personality and charm. They can be furnished with two single beds or one double bed.
The lodge also has a wader room, a drying room, a modest, but well-equipped in-house fly shop, as well as a cozy dining room where mouth-watering Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine is served at breakfast and dinner.
The old winepress building used by the monks of the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña 500 years ago is now the anglers' bar and lounge area. Swap stories at the end of each day over a glass of regional wine as you anticipate the day ahead.
Aren Lodge, La Ribagorza
This is not a traditional fishing lodge, but a wonderful, intimate hotel nestled in the village of Aren. Each of the 15 air-conditioned, double rooms have en-suite bathrooms, cable TV and balconies. There is a lounge on the ground floor, limited spa facility, and a room for drying your waders.
This Pyrenees tour includes unique culinary experiences in each region, including tasting menus, wine tastings, private lunches at exclusive locations, wine and tapas in local restaurants, barbecues by the river and other culinary experiences that will delight wine and food lovers.
Meals at Santa Cilia are served in the lodge's dining room. It was recently restored in the 15-century style of the rest of the building. Good food and wine are clearly a passion here. Using fresh, local produce, the menu at the lodge is second-to-none. The meals are typical of Northern Spain and accompanied by a great selection of wines from the region's best wineries, including La Rioja, Priorato and Grenache Kingdom. Wine lovers will also have the option of sampling special reserve wines from Ivan's private cellar.
All meals at La Ribagorza are served at the nearby hotel restaurant, which is recognized as one of the most authentic hot spots in the region. The menu features local, organic meat, produce and wines, and are anything but ordinary. Traditional dishes are enhanced by a preference for organic produce, and everything is fresh and tasty.
The owner, Juan Antonio, and his family have owned the restaurant since 1715, and their attention to culinary detail is deliciously evident. Lunches and dinners are served with quality red wines and a large selection of mouth-watering tapas.
